Yuliya Vladimirovna Pakhalina is a Russian diver who won gold in synchronized 3m springboard at the 2000 Sydney Olympics with partner Vera Ilyina. She has won five Olympic medals total over three Olympics, including individual bronze in 3m springboard at Athens 2004. Pakhalina has also won nine medals at World Championships, notably two golds at the 1998 World Cup, and has been successful at European Championships, winning eleven total medals including eight gold. She began diving in 1984 under her father and moved to Houston before the 2000 Olympics to train with Ilyina at the University of Houston.

Pakhalina is the Master of Sports in diving. She started diving from 1m
and 3m springboards and synchronized diving from 3 m-board. Julia Pakhalina
is a multiple World and European champion. She became the Olympic champion
at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000.
She participated in three Olympics, having won five medals. In 2000 in
Sydney, she won the gold medal in 3m synchronized springboard along with her
partner Vera Ilyina.
In Athens in 2004 the duo won the silver medals in the individual diving.
J.Pakhalina won the bronze medal in 3 meter-springboard diving. In 2008 in
Beijing she won two silver medals in 3 meter-board diving and in 3m
synchronized diving along with Pozdnyakova.
J.Pakhalina won nine medals at the World Diving Championships. At the
1998 World Cup in Perth she won two World Championship titles in 3 meterboard and 3 meter-synchronized diving. At the 2001 World Championships in
Fukuoka she won the bronze medal in 3 meters-board diving and the silver
medal in the 3m synchronized diving. In 2003 in Barcelona she won two silver
medals in the same fields.
At the European Championship Julia Pakhalina won the bronze medal in 3
meter-board diving.
In 2007 she won the bronze medal in Melbourne. It was her first
international medal in1 meter-board diving. This success was followed by the
gold medal at the 2009 World Championship in Rome. She also won the bronze
medal in the 3m synchronized diving.
J.Pakhalina was also very successful at the European swimming
championships. She won eleven medals, including eight gold ones.
