“Our activity today is a game about place value –
the houses where we group things.
You will build four digit numbers and talk about the
names of the groups in the different houses.
What is the rule for how many groups in each
house?”

“There can only be 9 groups in the houses.”
“The rule is the same for every house.
“Can you help me build this number on our place
value chart?”
“ 7 ones in the ones house.
“ 9 tens in the tens house.”
“ 4 hundreds in the hundreds house.”
“ 6 thousands in the thousands house.”
