What is Installation Art?
"An installation is an art which created by the different solid and mix-media item to decorate the rooms, warehouse or show panel. It always composed, or installed in a specific location, where it also reflects the physical characteristics of that specific location and associated materials."
The origin of Installation art is in western art culture, which the term installation exist in 1990 on first used by art magazine and 'Studio International' to refer to a work that contained an exhibition, and photographic documentation of that arrangement called an installation scene.
Manfred Kielnhofer
“Guards of Time” relates to the idea that since the beginning of time mankind has had protectors, both for historic and mystical reasons. It seems that only man himself is a potential source of danger for his own existence. In his works of art Manfred Kielnhofer deals with the natural human desire for security. Thus his oeuvre reflects genuine exploration, consideration and discussion of current as well as historic moods and sensibilities of his social environment. His works of art captivate with elaborate combinations of light and different technique.
Manfred Kielnhofer was born in Haslach an der Mühl, Austria. He is self-taught and works with many different mediums; including, painting, film, photography, installation, performance and sculpture. His work usually concerns the human figure, and its different forms and movements, focusing mainly on the peculiarities of human nature. He uses the human form as a tool, either on a canvas or in a sculpture.

ARTLENS Gallery: Designing Meaningful, Barrier-Free Digital ExperiencesPhillip Tiongson
The Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA)––in its latest initiative to use game-changing technology to enhance its visitors’ experience and their connection to the museum’s world-renowned collection––has reimagined its award-winning Gallery One concept with the introduction of ARTLENS Gallery, composed of:
1) ARTLENS Exhibition, where masterworks are intertwined with touchscreen-free digital interactives,
2) ARTLENS Studio, an intergenerational space where movement and art creation connects visitors to the CMA’s collection,
3) ARTLENS Wall, a 40-foot interactive wall displaying all of the CMA’s works on view, and
4) ARTLENS App, connecting to both the Exhibition interactives and the Wall, and can be used throughout the museum with responsive wayfinding. Also, the ARTLENS Beacon, a monumental screen at the entrance to ARTLENS Gallery, displays visitor-generated content including tours, collages, portraits, and poses in real time.
The centerpiece of ARTLENS Gallery is the Exhibition, an immersive, experiential space that places visitors into conversation with masterpieces, encouraging engagement with the museum’s collection. To create the cutting-edge digital interactives, the CMA partnered with Potion, a firm based in New York City, to design an experience that communicates complex concepts in simple, intuitive ways. Potion leveraged its deep experience in technology, inventing unique ways to use gesture control, gaze tracking, and emotion detection to create delightful and instructive visitor experiences exclusively for the CMA. Using barrier-free and motion-activated projections to create a personal experience with the art, ARTLENS Exhibition puts the art in the foreground. Visitors approach and engage with the art, and then use the interactive games that augment visual literacy skills and provide an experience in which they can learn more about composition, purpose, and symbols.
Join Jane and Phillip as they walk through the process of creating ARTLENS Gallery and, in particular, ARTLENS Exhibition and its awe-inspiring and fun, innovative technology.

Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.

2. • Installation Art is a relatively new genre of Contemporary Art - practised by
an increasing number of postmodernist Artists - which involves the
configuration or "installation" of objects in a space, such as a room or
warehouse. The resulting arrangement of material and space comprises the
"artwork".
Because an installation usually allows the viewer to enter and move around
the configured space and/or interact with some of its elements, it offers the
viewer a very different experience from (say) a traditional painting or
sculpture which is normally seen from a single reference point.
Furthermore, an installation may engage several of the viewer's senses
including touch, sound and smell, as well as vision.
• Because of its flexibility and three-dimensionality, installation art is
influenced by developments in computer art - such as software
developments in video and film projection - as well as techniques used in
avant-garde theatre and dance. Architectural and interior design are other
influences.
• Above all, installation is a form of conceptual art - a genre in which "ideas"
and "impact" are regarded as being more important than the quality of a
finished "product" or "work of art". (Remember, an installation is a purely
temporary work of art. Unless it is photographed or documented in some
way, there will be no evidence of its existence.) If a traditional work of art
allows us to appreciate the craftsmanship of the artist, an installation allows
us to experience the "artwork" and perhaps even rethink our attitudes and
values.
• As in all general forms of conceptual art, installation artists are more
concerned with the presentation of their message than with the material
used to present it. However, unlike 'pure' conceptual art, which is
supposedly experienced in the minds of those introduced to it, installation
art is more grounded and remains tied to a physical space. Conceptual and
installation art are two of the most popular examples of postmodernist art,
a general tendency noted for its attempts to expand the definition of art.
Both forms are widely exhibited in many of the world's best galleries of
contemporary art.
18. 1. What type of shoes are they? Who would they belong to?
2. Do any of the shoes stick out, what can you notice about the shoes?
3. What do you notice about the red string? e.g loose/tight, how has it been tied to the
shoes?
4. How is colour used?
5. How is light and dark used?
6. How is composition used?
Uncovering Meaning & Using Visual
Language
Exploring instillation art is excellent for developing and
maturing your use of visual language. The artist speaks
not with words but wit the choices they make to make
meaning. We look and de-code that meaning. In our de-
coding we find out own meaning and quite often the
artist will leave it open to interpretation. Initially
though, the artist would have been putting the work
together with thought, purpose and intention. You
must learn to do this in your own work.
Now put all your thoughts and all the things you have
noticed together and make your own meaning of this
piece of work. Justify your interpretation.

20. You will be designing an installation based on your personal theme for
‘Environments’. The following three areas are possible directions you could
choose to specialise in:
1.Multiples – based on your theme what could you create for a site specific or
gallery space to communicate your concept?
2.Light – what forms can you create or which objects could you use to take
advantages of the beauty of light based on your theme/concept?
3.Every Day Objects – artists adapt, tweak and fuse every day objects to
create sensory experiences, could your environments theme take advantage
of this option?
