Letter from Franklin’s desk
It can be a big wow when you slow down from the business of everyday life, and you observe where you are coming from and where you going to.
The past year has been one of those wow moments when the end of another year arrived in a surprisingly exciting form, when we realise that we are having so much fun and the diary has almost no days left. As the magic of development and beauty graced us till the very last of the month.
We have celebrated our ‘Change Agents’ in the making graduating in Malmesbury and Worcester Prison, our Ivy Nyovane Teachers graduating their Montessori Training; We have been incredibly blessed with both our ‘Parole Portfolio’ where you wil meet Monwabisi Mbetane, who graces his community with ballroom dancing lessons as part of his COC Activation and further development at Ivy Nyovane Educare Centre. You will also find our outreach for lovely musical talent in the community of Elsies River.
So join us as we say farewell to 2014, with hugs and warm wishes as we spend quality time with our families during the festive season, discovering new horizons to inspire us for a new year.
Enjoy Turqouise – the December edition for 2014.

1. GRADUATION
This photo was taken at my
graduation ceremony. In 2011 I
graduated from Hubei University
and got my Bachelor's degree
proudly. This event was one of the
most excited moment in my life.
My university held a big
ceremony on our graduation day.
All the grads got together to
celebrate the most proud event.
After 4-year hard working at
University, I was equipped with
strong specific knowledge, skills of
management, ability of problem
solving, and the heart of devoting
myself to serve the society.
On that event, I received my
Bachelor's degree certification.
2. AWARDS
This picture shows my taking my
awards proudly. In 2009, I took
Business English Certificate
examination. This exam is held by
Cambridge University. It is very useful
for young people to compete in today’s
international business world.
Taking the exam is a great
challenge to me because I was not
majoring in business.
In my preparation days, I got up 6
a.m. in the morning every day to
practice my English speaking on
school square. Then I went to the
library to begin my everyday training
by doing exercise of reading, writing
and listening. Though there are lots of
difficulties in front of me, I never give
up my hope
After 3-month preparation for the
exam, I passed the exam. To be
honest, passing the exam helps build
my confidence a lot.
3. BACK TO SCHOOL EVENING
PARTY
This photo was taken at
Back to School Evening Party in
September 2009.
I was one of the six host at
the event. It is a great challenge
to me because hosting a big
event in front of thousands of
students and teachers is a big
task I ever experienced.
One month before the big
event, my host team and I
gathered every day to discuss
every details we could encounter
and worked through them. One
week before the party, we did
preshow every day to make sure
the success of that big day.
That night was amazing, we
host successfully.
4. VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
This photo was taken at
Nursing Home in 2010 winter.
Once I knew that I would
volunteer at Nursing Home, I was a
little nervous. It was my first time
doing volunteer job.
We arrived in the morning that
day. We sat behind those residents
eating breakfast. After breakfast,
we played a few games to make
them laugh. There is one part I love
most: sharing stories. We were
divided into different groups. We
told them stories happened in our
everyday life and some now “ideas
"they never heard of. They share
with us their treasury memories.
The volunteer experience was
very meaningful in my life.
5. TRAVEL TO MUSEUM
This is a photo of my
visiting museum at Ottawa. This
summer my friends and I
travelled to Quebec and Ottawa.
I love visiting museums of
different places. It shows the
culture, history and
characteristics of different cities.
In my opinion, going to
museum helps to build my
personal brand. There are many
displays in the museum. It is like
an ocean of knowledge. I
learned culture of our capital,
the history of Canada, and
different groups of people’s life.
After this visit of museum, I
gained various of information
that is of great importance to my
future.
