2. HOW TO FUND & MARKET MY BUSINESS
The following is an outline of how much money I will need to
finance my new business and how I am going to fund this new
venture.
The information included was generated through an analysis of
my business’s needs and research into feasible ways to fund my
new business as well as market it.
5. EXPENSES
➤ Fees and professional services
Accountants $4,000
Marketing / Mgt Consultants $5,000
Advertising / Promotion $3,000
subtotal $12,000
6. EXPENSES
TOTAL Capital Costs $12,294
Working Capital Needs $5,000
Total Funds Required $17,294
total depreciable amount $10,344
monthly depreciation $259
7. HOW WILL I FUND MY BUSINESS?
As a new business owner I do not have very good credit but I
have a big dream. I want my business to be successful but I do
not have the funds to make that possible so my plan to start my
business consists of:
1. A Small Business Loan from a local bank
2. Personal Funding
3. Asking for Assistance From Family
I would take out a loan to cover as much as I could with then
supplement the remainder with my personal funding (the
savings I’ve set aside for this pursuit) and for the remaining
balance I would ask for financial assistance from my family.
8. SMALL BUSINESS LOAN: LOCAL BANK
➤ entrepreneur.com says that getting a loan from a local bank is
easier because they were not hit as hard by the economic
decline as major banks thus, they have more money to offer
small businesses. Additionally, they have less stringent
guidelines for loan applicants than larger banks making it
easier for entrepreneurs with big dreams and bad credit. This
would be ideal for me as this is the bracket that I would fall
into with my business.
➤ For my business this is my preferred and primary method of
funding.
9. PERSONAL FUNDING
➤ Once I decided I wanted to start my own business I started
saving 10% of my paycheck every month from my current job.
This money was in addition to my personal savings. I know
that this money will not be enough to fund my entire startup
but it is an investment in myself, my business, and my future.
It is also an investment I intend to get back in the coming
years in income from my new business.
➤ This “loan” will be the last I repay as my business begins to
bring in revenue.
10. FAMILY FUNDING
➤ In the event that I cant finance my new business with the money that
I borrowed and my own investment, I would need to ask for future
assistance from my family.
➤ This is a last option for funding my business as I have now indebted
myself to the bank and myself.
➤ In order to successfully pitch my self to my family I would present
them with the same documents that I did the bank and create a
similar contract and plan for repayment.
➤ I would separate the business from the personal and treat this
arrangement as I would any other professional business arraignment.
➤ I would not seek the financial assistance of friends as that becomes a
much harder relationship to manage.
12. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION
➤ SEO is critical to the success of a business, especially a lesser
known business, because the first thing most people do when
they begin a project is Google it.
➤ SEO will help elevate the visibility of KEEPS through an
organic Google search.
13. DIRECT MAIL
➤ forbes.com says that Direct Mail can still be effective,
especially when it comes in the form of a “personal” letter.
➤ This concept connects well with KEEPS customer-centric
business plan.
➤ As I build my business I want to also build a reputation and
cultivate a relationship with vendors and clients and this style
of direct mail could be an asset to my business.
14. NETWORKING
➤ There are few marketing techniques that surpass the benefits
of face-to-face networking.
➤ I will visit with vendors, suppliers, venues and my small
business targeted audience at meetings at their businesses
and begin cultivating a relationship with them.
➤ I will also join trade organizations, Chamber of Commerce in
my target market areas and other professional associations.
