A gentle introduction to Observability and how to setup a highly available monitoring platform across multiple datacenters.
During this talk we will investigate how we can setup and monitor an monitoring setup across 2 DCs using Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Alertmanager and Grafana. monitoring some services with some lessons learned along the way.
Securing Prometheus exporters using HashiCorp VaultBram Vogelaar
Things like Infrastructure as Code, Service Discovery and Config Management can and have helped us to quickly build and rebuild infrastructure but we haven't nearly spend enough time to train our self to review, monitor and respond to outages. Does our platform degrade in a graceful way or what does a high cpu load really mean? What can we learn from level 1 outages to be able to run our platforms more reliably.
This talk will focus on on creating a secure prometheus exporter ecosystem using HashiCorp Vault where we can we be sure that we are not leaking any business metrics from our observability stack. After which we ll investigate how to automatically rotate the certificates we created to do so.
Modern tooling to assist with developing applications on FreeBSDSean Chittenden
Discuss a workflow and the tooling for FreeBSD engineers to develop locally on their laptop (OS-X, Windows, or FreeBSD), and push applications to bare metal or the cloud. The tooling required to provide good automation from a developer laptop to production takes time to evolve, however this lecture will jumpstart a series of best practices for FreeBSD engineers who want to see their business applications run on FreeBSD.

Remove php calls and scale your site like crazy !Wim Godden
Although tools like Varnish can improve performance and scalability for static sites, when user-specific content is needed, a hit to the PHP/Ruby/Python/.Net backend is still required, causing scalability issues. We'll look at a brand-new Nginx module which implements an ultra-fast and scalable solution to this problem, changing the way developers think about designing sites with user-specific content.

Keep hearing about Plack and PSGI, and not really sure what they're for, and why they're popular? Maybe you're using Plack at work, and you're still copying-and-pasting `builder` lines in to your code without really knowing what's going on? What's the relationship between Plack, PSGI, and CGI? Plack from first principles works up from how CGI works, the evolution that PSGI represents, and how Plack provides a user-friendly layer on top of that.
Nginx is a free, open-source, high-performance HTTP server and reverse proxy, as well as an IMAP/POP3 proxy server. Igor Sysoev started working on developing Nginx in 2002 and released it to the public in 2004. Since then Nginx is hosting nearly 12.18% (22.2M) of active sites across all domains and is known for its high performance, stability, rich feature set, simple configuration, and low resource consumption. This report will give you a full overview of the Nginx and explain why this server is so popular.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

LF Energy Webinar: Electrical Grid Modelling and Simulation Through PowSyBl -...DanBrown980551
Do you want to learn how to model and simulate an electrical network from scratch in under an hour?
Then welcome to this PowSyBl workshop, hosted by Rte, the French Transmission System Operator (TSO)!
During the webinar, you will discover the PowSyBl ecosystem as well as handle and study an electrical network through an interactive Python notebook.
PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.
What you will learn during the webinar:
- For beginners: discover PowSyBl's functionalities through a quick general presentation and the notebook, without needing any expert coding skills;
- For advanced developers: master the skills to efficiently apply PowSyBl functionalities to your real-world scenarios.
Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
