Mainstay - Xerox Cal State Fullerton Digital Printing SolutionsMainstay
Like every large public university, Cal State Fullerton strives to fulfill an ambitious educational mission while wisely managing its taxpayer-supported budget. CSUF has stood out with its emphasis on using new technologies to address challenges on both sides of this equation.
To achieve their goals, Cal State Fullerton launched a major initiative, in partnership with Xerox, involving Digital Print Services and a modernized printer fleet. Xerox was able to implement solutions that allowed them to spend more money on what they do best, which is higher education.
1. 428624-190500 Greetings, and Merry Christmas from New Mexico! It’s been quite an eventful year, with graduations, golden anniversaries, work, school, a goodbye, and a hello. The year began on a sad note, with the passing of Eric’s grandfather, Frank Edmondson, in December 2008 at age 96. In January the family gathered in Bloomington, Indiana for Grandpa’s memorial service, and in spite of the somber occasion it was wonderful to see a lot of family, some of whom we hadn’t seen in quite some time. Grandpa lived a long, happy, and remarkable life, and we enjoyed all of the remembrances of family, friends, and colleagues. In March we were blessed with the arrival of our fourth grandchild, Lamar Apache Mitchell. He and his sister Asi and his brother Junior make for a busy but happy household for Kandise and Soz, including their aunt Kasaja, who live just a few miles away from us. Raco’s son Kenan Begay lives in Gallup, and we see him frequently. When he’s with us, he enjoys spending time with each of us. He makes us laugh. 4133215233045 Kasaja is doing well, she has been employed at Convergys (Call Center) for over a year now and enjoying it. She’s sad that she could not be with us for Christmas this year. She sends her love. Quanan, Asi and Junior have danced in several Powwows and Song & Dances this year, and they’re having a great time with it. Asianna and Quanan (first 2 pictures) took 1st place at the Santa Indian Market Fashion Show in August. Their traditional outfits were made by their masani (Karyl). Asianna also plays for the YMCA Itty Bitty basketball. We will enroll Junior soon, he loves to practice with Asianna. Quanan has been keeping busy with 4th grade, and playing baseball and basketball with the YMCA and Bernalillo County Parks & Rec. He and his friends in the neighborhood have re-enacted World War II several times, all with favorable results as far as we know. May was a very proud month for us. Jennifer graduated from Illinois State University, earning her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. In August, she accepted a fifth-grade teaching position at Laketown Elementary School in Springfield, Illinois, and is enjoying the challenges of a new career. Also in May, Amy graduated from Urbana High School, and in August began classes at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, majoring in Zoology. Russell is a sophomore at Urbana High School, plays on the UHS baseball team, and enjoys competitive trap shooting. We’re so proud of each of them. In July we celebrated another very special event – the 50th wedding anniversary (also in May) of Eric’s parents, Ed & Margaret Olson. Our family, Mom & Dad, Frank, Vickie, and Jeff’s family (17 in all!) met in Williams, Arizona and traveled to the Grand Canyon by train. We also spent a day in Flagstaff and Sedona and had a great time. We look forward to Mom & Dad’s 60th so we can do it all again :) It was a busy year for travel to Illinois, with several special events going on. Eric made trips home to Urbana in January, March, two in May (for Jennifer & Amy’s graduations), August, and October, and another trip is planned for December. Karyl continues her work with Sandia National Laboratories as a Records Analyst going on her 6th year. Eric completed his first full year of post-employment, enjoying (on most days) the ups and downs of getting a new business off the ground. “Critical mass” will be a welcome phenomenon, though it’s still an abstraction. But we’re growing and at the moment we have Kandise, Soz and Raco employed. We hope to be able to bring Karyl over to work full-time in our office sometime next year. Best wishes from all of us for a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy 2010! Eric & Karyl
