React Native is all about combining great user experience on native platforms with the developer experience of React on the web. Since it’s start one year ago, React Native continuously enjoys a tremendous traction. In 2015 React got popular, 2016 will be the year of React Native. I followed the development since the start and now I’m busy building my third React Native app. During my talk I like to introduce the library, show useful tooling and give practical advice for building React Native apps.

Hablé sobre la parte positiva, y las cosas que aceleraron nuestro proceso de desarrollo, pero también sobre algunos inconvenientes que hay que tener en cuenta. Se trata sobre todo de problemas muy específicos de cada plataforma, poner en marcha un flujo de integración continua y facilitar un proceso sencillo de testar la app con los usuarios. React Native es una buena solución que está muy de moda pero esto no significa que hay que usarlo sin analizar bien las necesidades de tu proyecto. Presenté brevemente una alternativa (Ionic 2) y conté que ventajas tiene en comparación con React Native desde mi punto de vista.

But mobile development is fraught with challenges. There are more Android devices than iOS, but iOS users tend to spend more money. If you build your app for one, it is a complete re-write for the other. You may have heard of Cordova/PhoneGap, but the apps tend to be somewhat clunky looking. Enter the Ionic Framework, a cross platform framework which combines PhoneGap with AngularJS and super fast CSS3 to make apps which perform at near native levels.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing

Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process. In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds. - These are slides of the talk given at IEEE International Conference on Software Testing Verification and Validation Workshop, ICSTW 2022.

A closure is a function, with a referencing environment for the free variables (arguments) to that function – it provides the function with a scope, that will live on for the life of the closure. It’s also the only way to create scope in JavaScript.
