A 21-year old Dutch cyclist named Gijs Verdick suffered two heart attacks and died while competing in the Carpathian Couriers Race. The newspaper AS reported on his death. In a personal opinion on the topic of athletes dying during competitions, the author believes this is bad for sports and recommends athletes undergo stress tests at least once a year to help prevent such tragic outcomes.

The young Dutch rider Continental Cycling Team Jo Piels team of just 21, has died as a
result of the two heart attacks he suffered while going for the Carpathian Couriers Race.
PERSONAL OPINION:
I think this is bad news for the sports world as it is more common each day to listen
notices od who sportsmen die in competitions and to avoid this it is convenient to take a
stress test at least once a year
