Entrepreneurism and e-government in finland

Business models for open data have emerged in response to the economic opportunities presented by the increasing availability of open data. However, scholarly efforts providing elaborations, rigorous analysis and comparison of open data models are very limited. This could be partly attributed to the fact that most discussions on open data business models are predominantly in the practice community. This shortcoming has resulted in a growing list of open data business models which, on closer examination, are not clearly delineated and lack clear value orientation. We address this problem by 1) consolidating reported open data business models in both academic and practice literature, 2) describe the models based on a business model framework, and 3) determine open data business models patterns. In addition, we identified the emerging core value disciplines for open data businesses. Our results help to streamline existing useful models, and link them to the overall business strategy through value disciplines.

Capability Matrix for Open Data Businesses
With the rapid growth of data on the web, a significant number of businesses have embraced the idea of open data to enable innovation, generate revenue and develop new data products and services. However, many businesses are still reluctant, to due to the paucity of information on requisite capabilities to successfully publish and reuse open data to support their business goals. However, scholarly efforts articulating the nature and types of
capabilities required for open data processes and innovation are very limited. This could be partly attributed to the fact that most of the discussions on open data capabilities are predominantly in the practice community. We bridge this knowledge gap by mapping Open Data (OD) capabilities described in extant literature, organizing these capabilities into major capability areas and deconstructing these areas to build a capability matrix. The resulting capability matrix provides OD program managers in particular with a framework (or tool) to develop their detailed OD capability requirements. We also believe that the developed framework provides researchers with a foundation for further analysis of OD capabilities.

How Singapore is Paving the Way for Global Smart Cities
Singapore is at the leading edge of global smart city initiatives and is a good deal of the way along the path to truly transforming the “city nation” for the benefit of its citizens and the redefinition of its government. Everything is on the table for reinvention in Singapore from smart transportation to smart energy to smart buildings to how its citizens receive smarter healthcare.
But what is a “smart city”? A smart city uses technology to deliver services, uses technology to reduce costs for service providers and uses technology to allow citizens to improve the running of the city. With sensors planted measuring everything from traffic to street lights, Singapore has deep insights into the lessons in IoT deployment and delivery on a truly large scale.
On October 13th, 2016 at the Internet of Things Developer meetup, Sumeet Puri presented a social and technical perspective on the Singapore smart cities initiative from two viewpoints: his role as an architect of several Singapore Smart City projects and as a resident of Singapore living through the transformation of his surroundings. Sumeet will share stories about Singapore’s efforts, and give us insights into the technical decisions needed to make this a reality. Sumeet will talk about architecting for IoT at scale, lessons learned from the Singapore Smart City Initiatives and the response of the public to these changes.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.

SMARtiP Smart Metropolitan Areas Realised Through Innovation & People CIP – ICT-PSP 2010 Pilot Type B www.smart-ip.eu Project start date: November 1st 2010 Duration: 30 months The aim is to enable to adoption of open platforms for the co-production of citizen-centric Internet-enabled services in five test-bed sites, Manchester, Gent, Cologne, Bologna and Oulu. The objective is to enhance the ability of the cities to grow and sustain a ‘smart city’ ecosystem which can support new opportunities emerging for a dynamic co-production process resulting in more inclusive, higher quality and efficient public services which can then be made replicable and scalable for cross-border deployment on a larger scale.
