The United Nations Climate Change Conference took place in Copenhagen, Denmark from December 7-19, 2009. It brought together many countries to negotiate enhancing international cooperation on climate change. While some hoped it would set firm targets to avoid dangerous climate change, the conference ultimately resulted in a political agreement rather than a binding treaty. The United States did not want to ratify the agreement, despite being one of the largest producers of greenhouse gases.
