Global feminism recognizes that women's rights issues vary across regions and cultures but that women everywhere deserve equal rights. The UN has made important contributions to advancing women's rights through agencies, conventions, and world conferences that have increased awareness of issues like violence, poverty, and discrimination facing women globally. However, challenges remain in fully implementing and enforcing women's rights standards due to lack of accountability, cultural relativism arguments against universal standards, and the marginalization of women's issues within mainstream human rights bodies.
