Abstract: Despite the strides made recently for women in business, female tech professionals continue to be outpaced by their male counterparts. According to Silicon Valley Bank’s Innovation Economy Outlook survey, less than 50 percent of technology companies have women in the C-suite or serving on the board of directors. Only 19 percent of CIO positions for Fortune 250 companies are held by women.
In fact, the gender disparity among technology professionals seems to be increasing in spite of recent gains throughout the workplace. Fewer women are joining the tech workforce and the numbers of female students studying technology is in decline—today only 18 percent of computer science majors are women, compared to 37 percent in the mid-1980s. Add in a continued wage imbalance and a high turnover rate for female tech professionals mid-career and it is clear that there is work to be done. How can we encourage more women to join the technology field and insurance technology in particular? What can be done to break down the barriers to success as a female technology professional?
The topic was supposed to be 'success strategies to attract investors'. I opted to focused on what really mattered... the 'source' of those strategies instead. The target audience was mostly Southeast Asian founders.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

12. A MESSAGE FROM SHERYL
SANDBERG
Chief Operating Officer,
FacebookThis event brings together two things I’m really passionate about -
Women And Entrepreneurship.
I wrote “Lean In” and founded Lean In(dot) org because I believe that
the world will be a better place when half our countries and half our
companies are run by women.
And the women that will be celebrated (at Lady Pitch Night) are
helping us get closer to that goal. They’re also helping to build the
economy, since entrepreneurship is the best driver of economic
growth everywhere around the world.
We need more entrepreneurs and I believe that we need more women entrepreneurs to continue this kind of growth. Having
organizations like Girls in Tech and role models like the women participating in Lady Pitch Night will help us get closer to a stronger
economy and a more equal and just world. A world in which more young girls grow up believing that they too can turn their ideas
into prosperous companies and create a world in which they will be celebrated for doing so.
Thank you to Girls in Tech and the amazing work you do to foster female entrepreneurship around the world.

Editor's Notes
Forbes Woman March 2015
The conditions for high-growth entrepreneurship for women in Europe lag the U.S. (83). Sweden is the the highest rated European country at 73. France only reaches 67, Germany 67 and the U.K. a sad 54. The top score any country can receive is 100, said Ruta Aidis, CEO and founder of ACG, Senior Fellow, George Mason University and author of the report. It is a relative score based on 30 metrics.
It was great to see the panelist do their Q+A portion with the presenters.
Had a great chat with one of the founders of findify who was the winner of Paris-Lady pitch night which was a few weeks ago in October. The delicious wine and finger food may or may not have been a big part of that convo. ;)
Seeing women angel investors and co-founders and being from a tech company myself made the event very interesting and relevant.
Thank you for extending the invitation.
