3. Making Decisions
It is hard to make decisions. Contrary to
popular belief, most people don’t know
“what they want to be when they grow up”.
The more information you have, the easier it
will be to make decisions and plan for the
future.
(Everfi, 2019)
4. What do
you think?
What is the
difference
between a
salary and an
hourly wage?
What is the
relationship
between short
and long term
goals?
What is the
difference
between a
career and a
job?
What is a
growth
industry?
7. You may decide to go in a different direction.
Everyone does. Very few people end up in the
exact place they had set as their long-term
goal. The point is you are moving in the
direction of what you are interested in
pursuing. You may find something else that is
better for you as you progress through life. You
may not reach the goal you had in mind. You
might reach something better. For you. (Everfi, 2019)
8. For many, the biggest long-term goal is
choosing a career.
(Everfi, 2019)
9. How do you choose a career path?
What if you go in the wrong direction?
The good news is that there is no wrong path, and you
don’t need to choose just one path in your career.
(Everfi, 2019)
10. Change is expected
• Changing directions helps you grow and understand yourself better so you can find the career path that is best for you.
• Many people choose to change what they do when their interests or goals change, or when new jobs become
available.
• New jobs are created all the time. In the future, you may have a job that doesn’t even exist right now!
