What is Wind Energy?
Wind power is the conversion of wind energy
into a useful form of energy, such as using
wind turbines to make electricity, wind
mills for mechanical power, wind pumps for
pumping water or drainage, or sails to propel
ships.
Wind power is also a renewable source.

How can a homeowner
utilize this source?
For homeowners who live in an area that has
fairly steady strong winds, and own at
least a half acre of land, this would be a
reliable energy source. Or, if you live near
an ocean, it would be sufficient also. Due too
the strong winds caused by the tide.
How much does it cost
to build a Wind Farm?
It costs around $1,500-2,000 for a wind
turbine. To build a whole facility, it would
cost approximately $1.3million-1.7million.
Where is the closest
Wind Farm to us?
The closest Wind Farm to us is
approximately 30 miles North of Keene. This
Farm has 12 wind turbines.
How much does it cost
per kilowatt-hour?
Per kilowatt-hour it costs $0.30.
Contribution to Global
Warming?
Researchers say that Wind Energy has
actually reduced global warming because f
its efficient way to create electricity.

Pro's of Wind Energy
-Generates electricity without releasing chemicals
into the air.
-Wind Energy is the cheapest form of energy.
-Power cuts & failures are almost non-existent.
http://planetsave.com/2010/11/10/availability-of-wind-energy-reduced-by-global-warming/
Con's of Wind Energy
-Wind turbines are easily damaged in
storms.
-Wind is not always blowing.
-They make a very loud sound, of 50-60
decibel.
How does this relate to the
law of conservation of
energy?
Transfer energy from mechanical to wind,
and wind to mechanical.
Most recent news?to be one of the great
t. Wind is plentiful,
he right tools we can
ng way to weaning
need to dig coal and
m, however, is that
ecrease wind speeds,
ured are at 10 meters
reas turbines operate
where there is little

Fun facts! (:
Wind energy good sides are: high working
reliability, no fuel costs and no pollution.
Wind energy is one of the lowest-priced
renewable energy sources.
Wind energy is mostly used to generate
electricity.
Wind energy is very abundant energy
source in many parts of the USA.
And that's our project!
