Willis O'Brien was a stop motion animation pioneer who had many jobs early in his life, including farmhand and bartender, before becoming a sports cartoonist. He was influenced by paleontologists and specialized in stop motion animation, which involves physically manipulating objects to create the illusion of movement. Some of his most famous works utilizing stop motion include The Lost World, King Kong, and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

20th Century Fox was formed in 1935 through the merger of Fox Film Corporation and Twentieth Century Pictures, founded in 1933. It produced many well-known films and television shows over the decades and was part of the "Big Five" major film studios in Hollywood. Universal Studios was founded in the early 20th century and focused on film production in Hollywood, opening Universal City Studios in 1915. It produced many melodramas, westerns and serials but also had financial troubles with some productions. Both studios have long histories in the film industry.

SO WHO IS HE ? • Willis O'Brien was a stop motion animation pioneer . • In his early life he had many jobs including a Farmhand, Factory Worker, Fur Trapper and a Bartender. • During his spare time he would take part in sculpting and illustrating which lead him to become employed as a sports cartoonist for Francisco Daily News. • He would also become influenced by guiding palaeontologists as a job.
- 3. WHAT ANIMATION DO THEY SPECIALIZE IN? • The animation in which Willis O'Brien specialised in was stop-motion. Stop Motion is the process of physically manipulate and object into moving on its own. • His first film drew the attention of Thomas Edison (Kinetoscope) and he was employed by him to animate other films. E.g. R.F.D 10,000 B.C. • His other titles he worked on include The Lost World (1925) King Kong (1933) • His last film he worked on was It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963)
