Find out what happens as a new boy who is a couple of inches taller than William joins their class. William's leadership seems to be under some threat as he challenges William to a one on one combat.William's friends in the meantime are busy advertising the fight and collecting money from the kids that come to watch the fight. Find out what happens.

1. Williams’s leadership in the class was under some serious threat. A new boy that was a year older than William
had joined their school. This new boy had been put into William’s class. This particular boy was not only older
but also stronger and a few inches taller than eleven year old William.
Things had not turned out well between William and the new boy whose name happened to be Oscar.
Oscar had made a strange noise on his first day at school and the English teacher who was in the class at that
time had caught William who happened to be right behind Oscar.
This incident had led to a deadly combat in the interval. Douglas had been beaten by William and his three
friends Trevin, Angelo and Raj.
The important thing at the end of the day was that Oscar had not complained to their class teacher. He had in
fact apologized to William for what had happened in the English period. Oscar had also challenged William to a
one on one combat in the interval on the following day.
William had accepted the invitation.
William was not afraid. He had fought boys that were much older than him. He would fight and no matter what
he would not run away!
Some days he would return home his shirt soaked in mud, his collar torn but with a smile on his face. Even the
kids in the older grades had respect for William. Even they knew that William was a tough nut.
Oscar seemed like a tough nut himself. William and his friends had beaten him four on one but he had the guts
to stand up and fight again. He had not cried and he had not complained.
Was he more skilled than William?
The news of the fight had gone around the entire school.
William and his friends had started to collect money from the Grade 5 students that would come to watch the
fight. At first they had planned to have the fight in the classroom but since all the boys in Grade 5 were coming
they had to change the venue. The fight was to be held in the bathroom on the ground floor close to the
Montessori section.
William had decided to have the fight after school but then had decided against it because many children would
not turn up to watch the fight if the fight was held after school.
Therefore the fight was to be in the interval.
William’s friends had decided to charge RS 100 from each boy that would come to see the fight. According to
Angelo he expected about 20 boys from Grade 5. This meant RS 2000. They would charge money only from the
younger kids. The older boys would not pay to watch the fight.
“We would buy a Cricket bat, stumps, and a tennis ball and still have money to eat some club sandwiches.” Said
Raj
Things went as planned. William had a couple of doubts in his mind when he saw the crowd. If William lost the
fight he would not be able to face his friends again!
He didn’t want to take any risks therefore he told Trevin to be on the lookout and that he would pass a signal to
Trevin if he was losing and for Trevin to immediately fetch their class teacher to the scene of crime.
William even if he got beaten would still hold on. This was the plan.
He had also given strict advice to Raj and Angelo to move out of the scene of crime as soon as they had finished

2. collecting the money. There was a high possibility that the older brothers would show their brotherly love by
taking their money. This had happened in the past and there was a high possibility that it would happen today.
They had collected RS 2490. From grade 5 there had been 20 boys and 4 boys had turned up from grade 4 and
another couple of boys had turned up from their class. They had given William RS 90.
The rules of the fight were quite simple. The first to quit or the first to run away would lose.
Whoever won they still would have the RS 2490 to themselves. They were collecting money for a cricket set.
They would buy the cricket set quite easily. They would also have enough money to have a party with the
remaining money.
They would each buy themselves a Club sandwich and a Chicken submarine even if William lost the fight and
there was no way that William would lose the fight. Even if William was getting beaten Trevin would be on the
lookout and the moment William gave the signal to Trevin he would fetch their class teacher in no time.
Everything was ready for the fight. Raj would give the count and then leave with Angelo to hide the money in
their bag!
And when Raj yelled fight thus began the fight.
Oscar was a couple of inches taller than William. Both started walking around in circles looking at each other
carefully. The audience started chanting William’s name.
William was the first to strike. William bent down and kicked Oscar on the ankles, bringing him to the floor
immediately.
The next moment William had capitalized and locked his neck.
And the moment after that Oscar had quit the fight. The fight had been easier than William had thought.
Angelo and Raj were not to be seen. It was expected. The little boys this time were demanding for their money
because the fight had not lasted as long they thought it would. William however was missing as soon as the
fight was over.
At the end of the fight however William was quite impressed with Oscar.
And when they went back to their class, William had his hand around Oscar’s shoulder.
“You should join our gang.” said William
“We collected money to buy some a Cricket set and we’ll be having a little party after school, you should join
us.” Continued William
As planned they went outside after school. Even after buying the cricket goods there still was enough money for
them to buy a Club Sandwich and a Chicken Submarine each from the Lily Petal Cafe!
And that is where they went next.
“Five Club sandwiches and five Chicken submarines.” ordered William
They also had a brand new cricket bat, stumps and three tennis balls. And here they were eating like kings.

3. Oscar was the first to open the conversation. And whilst his mouth was half filled with the club sandwich, he
said
“I think we should have a name for our gang!”
“Or do we already have a name?”
All the others agreed. They did not have a name for their gang.
“What’s the name?” questioned Trevin
And after coming up with a couple of names like Fire fighters, Buffaloes and Fiery Dragons, William came up
with the name Blood Brothers. This was the name that they all agreed with!
“Blood brothers it will be.” Said William
“We need to plan about what to do.” Said Trevin
“We need to have some rules and sign a piece of paper with blood.” Said William
“We need to write down a list of the naughty things that we can do at school.” Said Oscar
Well they wrote a whole list down! A whole list of naughty things that they planned for the future.
And they decided on one that they would do immediately. The list had a lot of things like trying to pour salt into
their principal’s cup of tea and trying to lock their Computer teacher from outside whilst he was inside the
computer lab. The list was huge but they decided to go one at a time.
