How different countries celebrate christmas Jennifer LTim Chase
Christmas is celebrated differently in various countries. In Sweden, Christmas Eve on December 24th is spent with family, eating food and having fun together before receiving gifts from Santa Claus or "Jultomten". Sweden also has Christmas stockings filled daily from December 1st to 24th and opens a piece of chocolate from an Advent calendar each day. India, where only 2-3% are Christian, sees smaller celebrations including decorating with banana trees instead of pine and calling Santa "Christmas Baba". Egypt's Christian minority celebrates on January 7th after a 43 day fast, and families gather for parties and biscuit gifts. Australians celebrate during summer holidays, decorate houses with lights and sing carols, and have bar

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
A workshop hosted by the South African Journal of Science aimed at postgraduate students and early career researchers with little or no experience in writing and publishing journal articles.
2. The wicked witch of the west first appearance was in L. Frank Baum’s
children’s book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” which he wrote in
1900. The witch dies in the first book, and when she dies in the film all
her soldiers are glad to be free of her power.
The book became really popular so he wrote 13 more books about Oz
before his death in 1919.
The Witch most popular appearance was in the classic Hollywood
movie based on Baum’s book in 1939, but she has been in many books,
movies, musicals etc after that.
He wrote his intentions in the book’s introduction: “The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz was written solely to pleasure children
today. It aspires to being a modernized fairy tale, in which the
wonderment and joy are retained and the heart-aches and
nightmares are left out.”
3. The Wicked Witch of the West only have one eye with can see as far as
a telescope. Her skin is green and she only wears black. She is highly
allergic to water.
She has 5 different powers and skills.
- Pyrokinesis: She is able to make fireballs using her hands
- Flight/ Teleportation: She can teleport, creating huge fog-like red
smoke, while she can fly with her Broomstick.
- Magic Ball: She can spy on her enemies using her Magic Ball, where
she can see what’s going to happen next.
- Black smoke: She can create black smoke which she use to scare
people away with.
- Flying monkeys and winkie guards: She has minions, which she uses
to kidnap Dorothy and protect her dark castle.
4.
5. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is about a girl named Dorothy. She and her dog
Toto get caught in a huge tornado. They are stuck in their house while the
tornado blows them away. When the house stops spinning, they walk out and
see that they have crushed a witch. The witch was the Wicked Witch of the
East.
In the book, they can’t find their way back home so she asks someone who
says she has to go to the Land of Oz and then talk to the wizard Oz. When
they get there and talk to the wizard he says they have to kill the Wicked
Witch of the West to get what they want. But in the movie you know that the
two witches are sisters, so the Witch of the West wants to revenge Dorothy for
killing her sister.
In the end Dorothy throws a bucket of water on the witch, so she dies. While
the witch is melting she says to Dorothy: “You cursed brat! Look what you've
done! I'm melting! Melting! Oh, what a world! What a world! Who would have
thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?
Oooooh, look out! I'm going!”
6. The witch is a wicked and malevolent ruler of the western
quadrant called Winkie Country in the land of Oz.
In the book it is said that the witch lives in a beautiful yellow
castle with long hallways carpeted with yellow velvet rugs, yellow
silken draperies at the castle windows and yellow decorations in
every room. It is really luxurious if you compare it with her castle
in the movie, where it’s described as a dark and mysterious castle.
She didn’t carry a broom in the
novel, but an umbrella. It makes
more sense because she probably
used it to protect herself from any
water attacks. She also used the
umbrella to scare Toto, Dorothy’s
dog.
