• A source of identity, history, continuity
• Community preservation of local traditions and culture, pride, image and
growth.
• Environmentally sound
• Economic value – Injects new money into the economy, diversifies it, boosts
jobs and tax revenues, especially because of high-spending visitors
• Tourism is the country’s main foreign exchange earner, although heritage
tourism is very limited, yet the world over, it is becoming increasingly valued,
attracts high spending visitors.

indigenous knowledge
