Upper Peninsula Outdoor Recreation  Marquette was listed among the Top 8 Running Towns in the County by Trail Runners Magazine in 2008.  Sand Point Beach in Munising was listed as one of the Top Pocket Beaches in the Country by Coastal Living.  Marquette ranked #7 in the Top 200 Towns for Outdoorsmen by Outdoor Life, and was the only town in Michigan to make the list!  Mount Bohemia Ski Resort in Houghotn, Porcupine Mountain Ski Resort in Ontonagon, Indianhead Mountain Ski Resort in Wakefield, Blackjack Ski Resort in Bessemer, Marquette Mountain Ski Area in Marquette, and Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Bessemer were all listed among the “Best Ski Resorts in Michigan” by MountainVertical.com. *Mount Bohemia in Houghton was also listed as having the “Best Powder” and as one of the four “Best Ski Resorts in the Midwest by Outside Magazine.  Mystery Spot made the list for “Best Places to Visit in Michigan” by America’s Top 10.  The Stonington Peninsula was listed as one of the Top 10 Wildlife Hot Spots in the country by Coastal Living.
