Maintenance Reliability and the Internet of Things: What's your strategy?CloudOne
One of the most exciting things on the horizon for maintenance and reliability professionals is the dawn of the Internet of Things. Right around the corner is a world where everything we interact with – from appliances to cars to medical equipment – will be connected to each other and to services on the Internet that enhance their usefulness, reliability and effectiveness. Far from being a remote idea for maintenance and reliability, it now directly ties what we do every day into the successful creation of these smart products. Join CloudOne CEO John McDonald as he outlines what IoT is, and how it affects you in your role.
The document discusses how new business models, technological advancements, and a changing workforce are driving the need for organizations to become "Instant-On Enterprises" that can respond instantly and deliver immediate results. It argues that HP's solutions for application transformation, converged infrastructure, security, information optimization, and hybrid delivery can help organizations flip the ratio of innovation to operations and become more agile, optimized, and secure Instant-On Enterprises.
Chetan Dube, CEO, IPsoft, came to the ISG Sourcing Industry Conference to discuss what technology management will look like tomorrow and how automation is changing the world.
The document discusses Operations-as-a-Service (OaaS) which provides ongoing management and optimization of servers and infrastructure. It describes how OaaS supports businesses by handling tasks like monitoring, backups, security and software updates. Case studies show how OaaS providers like ChinaNetCloud helped companies optimize their infrastructure on Aliyun cloud, improve performance, reliability and reduce costs through managed server operations. Customers reported benefits like higher uptime and ability to focus on their business instead of server management.
The document discusses how IT is being transformed by digital technologies. It provides 5 reasons why IT as we know it has changed forever: 1) 50-70% of enterprise workloads will be in the public cloud, 2) Agile operating models are becoming dominant, 3) IT is becoming a revenue generation engine, 4) Internet of Things and platforms are essential capabilities, and 5) 20-40% of labor will be removed through automation. It also discusses how the "as-a-service" model is disrupting traditional outsourcing markets and driving double-digit productivity and cost savings through automation.

Internet of Things & Hardware Industry Report 2016Bernard Moon
Overview of industry trends and insights of Fortune 500 companies and startups' activities in the Internet of Things (IoT) and hardware space. We cover connected home, wearables, healthcare, robotics & drones, and industrial IoT.
Internet of Things (IoT) - We Are at the Tip of An IcebergDr. Mazlan Abbas
You are likely benefitting from The Internet of Things (IoT) today, whether or not you’re familiar with the term. If your phone automatically connects to your car radio, or if you have a smartwatch counting your steps, congratulations! You have adopted one small piece of a very large IoT pie, even if you haven't adopted the name yet.
IoT may sound like a business buzzword, but in reality, it’s a real technological revolution that will impact everything we do. It's the next IT Tsunami of new possibility that is destined to change the face of technology, as we know it. IoT is the interconnectivity between things using wireless communication technology (each with their own unique identifiers) to connect objects, locations, animals, or people to the Internet, thus allowing for the direct transmission of and seamless sharing of data.
IoT represents a massive wave of technical innovation. Highly valuable companies will be built and new ecosystems will emerge from bridging the offline world with the online into one gigantic new network. Our limited understanding of the possibilities hinders our ability to see future applications for any new technology. Mainstream adoption of desktop computers and the Internet didn’t take hold until they became affordable and usable. When that occurred, fantastic and creative new innovation ensued. We are on the cusp of that tipping point with the Internet of Things.
IoT matters because it will create new industries, new companies, new jobs, and new economic growth. It will transform existing segments of our economy: retail, farming, industrial, logistics, cities, and the environment. It will turn your smartphone into the command center for the both digital and physical objects in your life. You will live and work smarter, not harder – and what we are seeing now is only the tip of the iceberg.
This document introduces CloudOne as a company that provides managed continuous engineering services for companies developing Internet of Things (IoT) products and solutions. It discusses how CloudOne integrates infrastructure, tools, and support across continuous engineering and DevOps, enterprise asset management, analytics, and devices and applications. The document emphasizes that continuous engineering is a core capability needed for successful IoT strategies and outlines benefits of CloudOne's services such as enterprise-class security, ability to reuse existing tools and processes, and enabling global collaboration. Examples are given of major companies that use CloudOne's services for their IoT initiatives.

EMA/Apica October 2016 Event: User Environment Management For Digital Transfo...Apica
Both User Environment Management (UEM) and Digital Transformation (DT) are current industry buzzwords. However, the two are more interrelated than most recognize. During an October 2016 event Julie Craig, research director from analyst firm Enterprise Management Associates, addressed these two trends and discussed ways in which UEM– and specifically synthetics solutions such as Apica– supports and facilitates DT initiatives.
For most organizations, new technologies are coming to market faster than we can keep up with. This wave of innovation brings with it new opportunities for cutting-edge applications and services that create industry differentiation. At the same time, the complexity of melding new technologies into existing production systems makes it difficult to chart a course through the flood of possibilities these technologies have to offer. As a result, many companies deploy new applications first, then figure out how to manage performance and availability.
In other words, performance optimization is too often an afterthought.
Liviu Gherman discusses how business agility is the main driver of competitiveness in today's volatile economic environment. He argues that companies need to continuously innovate, experiment with new approaches, and fight conventional wisdom in order to spur economic growth. To achieve sustainable growth, companies must reform processes through innovation rather than just cost cutting. Further, the rate of creative destruction, or innovation making existing products obsolete, has accelerated dramatically in recent decades due to greater information availability and customer expectations of instant gratification. As a result, business agility has become critical for companies to remain competitive. Oracle aims to help companies achieve business agility through its integrated suite of middleware products that provide operational, management, and technology excellence.

There is an opportunity to more tightly align IT and business functions, which can create more value. CGI assessed companies and found a strong correlation between IT-business alignment and higher earnings performance. Where alignment was strongest, profit and EPS growth were 2-3 times higher. Digital value creation requires culture change enabled by agile ways of working, data, and technology.
