Objects have color because of the way they interact with light. White objects reflect all visible light wavelengths, which combines to be seen as white. Red objects absorb all wavelengths of visible light except red, which is reflected and makes the object appear red. Black objects absorb all visible light wavelengths and do not reflect any color, which is why black objects appear black.
