I present an alternative system, called LiquidThreads, which I have been working on with the assistance of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Linq
LINQ (Language-Integrated Query) allows .NET languages to perform data querying directly in code. It was introduced in .NET Framework 3.5 and adds native querying capabilities to languages like C# and VB.NET. LINQ can query different data sources, including objects, XML, ADO.NET, and SQL databases. It uses a SQL-like syntax that is translated into the appropriate data language. LINQ provides many benefits like maintaining business logic and queries together in one project and generating optimized SQL.

Apache Flink is an open source stream processing framework developed by the Apache Software Foundation. The core of Apache Flink is a distributed streaming dataflow engine written in Java and Scala. Apache Flink’s dataflow programming model provides event-at-a-time processing on both finite and infinite datasets. At a basic level, Flink programs consist of streams and transformations. Conceptually, a stream is a (potentially never-ending) flow of data records, and a transformation is an operation that takes one or more streams as input, and produces one or more output streams as a result. Programs can be written in Java, Scala, Python, and SQL and are automatically compiled and optimized into dataflow programs that are executed in a cluster or cloud environment.

Semantic Exchange, a history
This document discusses the history and development of SemEx, a project by the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) to standardize the mapping of news providers' classification taxonomies to the IPTC's MediaTopics taxonomy. Version 0.1 of SemEx proposed that IPTC would host provider taxonomy mappings, but providers were reluctant to relinquish intellectual property rights. Version 0.2 instead requires each provider to map their own taxonomy and make the mapping available, avoiding technical and legal issues for IPTC while still promoting interoperability. The draft standard and next steps are outlined.

Due to the complexities involved, a problem-free migration is the exception rather than the norm. The NISO Content Platform Migration Working Group was formed to address these challenges and aims to establish recommended practices and checklists to standardize and improve platform migration processes for all stakeholders involved with online content platforms.
In this session, a librarian and a publisher will share their perspectives on content platform migrations, and the Working Group Co-chairs will describe the group’s efforts to-date and expected outcomes. Our publisher-side speaker will describe issues they must consider when their content migrates, such as providing continuous access, persistent linking, communicating with stakeholders, and working with vendors. Our librarian speaker will describe their experience and steps they take during migrations, such as receiving notifications about migrations, identifying affected e-resources, updating local systems to ensure continuous access, and communicating with their front-line staff and patrons.

At a time when the data explosion has simply been redefined as “Big”, the hurdles associated with building a subject-specific data repository for chemistry are daunting. Combining a multitude of non-standard data formats for chemicals, related properties, reactions, spectra etc., together with the confusion of licensing and embargoing, and providing for data exchange and integration with services and platforms external to the repository, the challenge is significant. This all at a time when semantic technologies are touted as the fundamental technology to enhance integration and discoverability. Funding agencies are demanding change, especially a change towards access to open data to parallel their expectations around Open Access publishing. The Royal Society of Chemistry has been funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research of the UK to deliver a “chemical database service” for UK scientists. This presentation will provide an overview of the challenges associated with this project and our progress in delivering a chemistry repository capable of handling the complex data types associated with chemistry. The benefits of such a repository in terms of providing data to develop prediction models to further enable scientific discovery will be discussed and the potential impact on the future of scientific publishing will also be examined. This document discusses the development of a resource history service at APNIC that provides access to historical registry data through an RDAP API and user interface. It aims to reconnect disconnected history from registry changes and increase transparency. The service exposes previous registry states through a RDAP extension and has a prototype UI for exploring changing data over time. Feedback is sought on the API and UI as the service moves from experimental to stable.
