Editor's Notes

  1. Located in South America, Argentina is the second largest country within the continent after Brazil It borders Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay It is divided into 23 provinces and the capital is Buenos Aires
  2. As of July 2014, Argentina has over 43 million people 92% of the population is a practicing Roman Catholic, 2% of Argentinians are Protestant and only 2% of population are Jewish The exchange rate is 1 Argentine Peso=0.11 U.S. Dollars Argentina participates a lot in different international organization (about 69) and these are just some of the more common ones: the World Trade Organization, United Nations, World Federation of Trade Unions and Mercosur is a regional economic group with the South American countries.
  3. Due to its climates and geography, 24% of its exports are primary agricultural commodities and 36% are processed agricultural products This is actually an advantage for Whole Foods because as they state on their annual report Product is based on High Quality Natural and Organic Food so they want to keep them as fresh as possible They have to met their standards Environmental friendly, one of Whole Foods core Values
  4. Strengths Some support schools, families and children, bring fresh food to underserved communities The company has one of its foundations (Whole Planet Foundation) where they create economic partnerships with the poor within the communities of the country Are in 2 cities and whole foods sources its berries from there Weakness because it carries a lot of organic products, they are priced at a higher price and even if it’s $1 or $2 more, ppl that go grocery shopping, still notice Outside of the U.S., they are just in Canada and the U.K. Since there aren’t any whole foods in S. America, at the beginning, the people will not know who they are
  5. Opportunity Great thing about Whole Foods is that there isn’t a set number of square feet that the store has to be They can open up one of 15,000 to 75,00, they can and the store employees between approximately 50 to 650 people By eliminating the exportation costs, famers, ranchers, growers and producers receive a maximum return on their investment Threats Top supermarket chains in Argentina is Carrefour and Wal-Mart As we all know, this is not good for the economy because it weakens the currency, Peso, and there is a slow growth in the economy
  6. Very densely areas Its 34% of the nations population living here
