This sermon discusses the sinfulness of drunkenness and casual drinking based on several Bible passages. It argues that Christians should aim for purity and sobriety as "priests of God" and cites verses showing drunkenness is a sin, even casual drinking is discouraged for leaders, and believers' bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit so purity is important. The sermon concludes by encouraging believers to desire purity and avoid wine which can lead them astray from God.

Priests of Purity Christians are a
Royal Priesthood
1Pe 2:9 NKJV But you are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you
may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of
darkness into His marvelous light;
Rev 1:5-6 ESV and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness,
the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To
him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
(6) and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to
him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Priests of Purity Priest of the Old
Law were to be Pure
Lev 10:9-10 NKJV "Do not drink wine or intoxicating
drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the
tabernacle of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute
forever throughout your generations, (10) that you may
distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and
clean,
1Co 6:19 NKJV Or do you not know that your body is the
temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from
God, and you are not your own?
15. When the Wine Fails, Part 2
Priests of Purity Why Not Desire
Purity?
Eph 5:25-27 NKJV Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ
also loved the church and gave Himself for her, (26) that
He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water
by the word, (27) that He might present her to Himself a
glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing,
but that she should be holy and without blemish.
16. When the Wine Fails, Part 2
Priests of Purity Why Not Desire
Purity?
Rev 7:14-17 NKJV And I said to him, "Sir, you know." So he
said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great
tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in
the blood of the Lamb. (15) Therefore they are before the
throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple.
And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. (16)
They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the
sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; (17) for the Lamb
who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead
them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away
every tear from their eyes."
Pro 20:1 NKJV Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler,
And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
