Predestination is one of the most widely taught doctrines in Calvinism. The biblical understanding of this passage reveals a much deeper underlying principle and a richer store of information than can be imagined.
God want's to do great things for us. A scripture based study into predestination reveals that God wants to glorify us. Allow the scriptures to open the pathway that God desires to bring us on.
Ephesians 3:14-21 God's blessings, He settled may largest debt - sacrifice, he satisfied my deepest need - forgiveness, he provided my greatest desire - guidance, he prepared my highest longing - heaven.
1 Peter 2:20-23. Jesus left us an example that we should follow in His steps. in suffering, in growth, in baptism, in handling temptation, to worship, in service,
We serve a powerful God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think. But we must be His children to receive these blessings. You must believe, repent , confess and be baptized to become his child.
It should be our desire to please God, but how do we please God? God wants you forgive your sins. God wants you to believe in Him and trust Him. God wants you to do his will. God wants you to follow Him. God wants you to forsake all for him. God wants you to be in heaven with Him.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

1. Why I Love the church of Christ, Part
8 Lesson Text:
1 Cor. 3:16-17
Heritage Addition church of Christ
By Jim Bradshaw
Sunday Morning, October 18, 2015
Because she is Holy
2. It is Not about the
buildingIt is the Body of Christ
3. Golden
Opportunities
Mat 7:12 ESV "So whatever you wish that others would do to
you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Gal 6:9-10 ESV And let us not grow weary of doing good, for
in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (10) So
then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and
especially to those who are of the household of faith.
4. Walmart is not
the only Saving
Place
The Mission of the church must be
the same as its head:
Luke 19:10 ESV For the Son of Man
came to seek and to save the lost."
5. The Lord’s Supper
1Co 11:24-39 ESV and when he had given thanks, he broke it,
and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in
remembrance of me." (25) In the same way also he took the
cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my
blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
(26) For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you
proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. (27) Whoever,
therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an
unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood
of the Lord. (28) Let a person examine himself, then, and so
eat of the bread and drink of the cup. (29) For anyone who
eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks
judgment on himself.
6. Jesus Christ is the Head of the church
of Christ
Eph 1:20-23 ESV that he worked in Christ when he raised
him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the
heavenly places, (21) far above all rule and authority and
power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not
only in this age but also in the one to come. (22) And he put
all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things
to the church, (23) which is his body, the fullness of him
who fills all in all.
7. Our Leaders
Tit 1:5-9 ESV This is why I left you in Crete, so that you
might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in
every town as I directed you-- (6) if anyone is above
reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are
believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or
insubordination. (7) For an overseer, as God's steward, must
be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered
or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, (8) but
hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and
disciplined. (9) He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as
taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound
doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Eph 2:7-10 so that in the coming ages he might
show the immeasurable riches of his grace in
kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (8) For by
grace you have been saved through faith. And this is
not your own doing; it is the gift of God, (9) not a
result of works, so that no one may boast. (10) For
we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for
good works, which God prepared beforehand, that
we should walk in them.

HO'LY, a. (Webster’s 1828)
1. Properly, whole, entire or perfect, in a moral
sense. Hence, pure in heart, temper or dispositions;
free from sin and sinful affections. Applied to the
Supreme Being, holy signifies perfectly pure,
immaculate and complete in moral character; and
man is more or less holy, as his heart is more or less
sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions. We
call a man holy, when his heart is conformed in
some degree to the image of God, and his life is
regulated by the divine precepts. Hence, holy is
used as nearly synonymous with good, pious, godly.
Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 Pet 1.

1Co 3:16-17 ESV Do you not know that you are
God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
(17) If anyone destroys God's temple, God will
destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are
that temple.
-oly ones of God.
In the Greek hagios in the N.T. almost always refers
to the Holiness of the Divine. The word in the
plural is almost always translated saints. Christians
are the “holy ones of God.”

Rom 1:7 ESV To all those in Rome who are loved
by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and
peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus
Christ.

but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

Eph 1:7-23 ESV In him we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,
according to the riches of his grace, (8) which he
lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight (9)
making known to us the mystery of his will,
according to his purpose, which he set forth in
Christ (10) as a plan for the fullness of time, to
unite all things in him, things in heaven and things
on earth. (11) In him we have obtained an
inheritance, having been predestined according to
the purpose of him who works all things according
to the counsel of his will, (12) so that we who were
the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of
his glory. (13) In him you also, when you heard the

your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed
with the promised Holy Spirit, (14) who is the
guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire
possession of it, to the praise of his glory. (15) For
this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the
Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, (16)
I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering
you in my prayers, (17) that the God of our Lord
Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a
spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge
of him, (18) having the eyes of your hearts
enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to
which he has called you, what are the riches of his

immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who
believe, according to the working of his great might
(20) that he worked in Christ when he raised him
from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the
heavenly places, (21) far above all rule and
authority and power and dominion, and above every
name that is named, not only in this age but also in
the one to come. (22) And he put all things under

Only in Christ also means, only those in the church,

Eph 5:29-32 ESV For no one ever hated his own
flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ
does the church, (30) because we are members of
his body. (31) "Therefore a man shall leave his
father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the
two shall become one flesh." (32) This mystery is
profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and
the church.
1Co 12:13 ESV For in one Spirit we were all
baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or
free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

Eph 3:8-12 ESV To me, though I am the very least
of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to
the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, (9)
and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of
the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all
things, (10) so that through the church the
manifold wisdom of God might now be made
known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly
places. (11) This was according to the eternal
purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our
Lord, (12) in whom we have boldness and access
with confidence through our faith in him.

1Pe 1:14-19 ESV As obedient children, do not be
conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
(15) but as he who called you is holy, you also be
holy in all your conduct, (16) since it is written,
"You shall be holy, for I am holy." (17) And if you
call on him as Father who judges impartially
according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves
with fear throughout the time of your exile, (18)
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile
ways inherited from your forefathers, not with
perishable things such as silver or gold, (19) but
with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb
without blemish or spot.

Eph 5:25-27 ESV Husbands, love your wives, as
Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
(26) that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her
by the washing of water with the word, (27) so that
he might present the church to himself in splendor,
without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she
might be holy and without blemish.
Acts 22:16;
Joh 3:5-7 ESV Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say
to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he
cannot enter the kingdom of God. (6) That which is
born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit. (7) Do not marvel that I said to
you, 'You must be born again.'

1Co 3:16-17 ESV Do you not know that you
[plural] are God's temple and that God's Spirit
dwells in you? (17) If anyone destroys God's
temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is
holy, and you [plural] are that temple.
Here the writer refers to you in the plural sense.
Therefore, we are not speaking of you singular or a
singular Christian, but to Christians in the plural,
which we know as the church of Christ.

1Co 3:16-17 ESV Do you not know that you
[plural] are God's temple and that God's Spirit
dwells in you? (17) If anyone destroys God's
temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is
holy, and you [plural] are that temple.
Two words are commonly used for temple in the
N.T. 1.) hieron – meaning the entirety of the
grounds and place of the temple of God. 2.) Naos –
meaning the Holy of Holies, i.e. the place where
God dwells. In 1 Cor. 3 the word Naos is used.
Rev 4:8 ESV And the four living creatures, each of
them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and
within, and day and night they never cease to say,
"Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who
was and is and is to come!"
