What is a Subluxation? The Key to Chiropractic Care
1. What is Subluxation?
The term “subluxation” is the key to the chiropractic profession and has been a
point of controversy since its founding. Many researchers have tried to change
the term to adhere to political and medical pressure and acceptance. However,
terms do not change what chiropractors do or alter the uniqueness of our art.
Chiropractors remove subluxations. Subluxation occur within the vertebral bodies
in the spine that have lost their proper alignment or have decreased in motion
compared to the bones above and below.
Situation such as prolonged posture, repetitive motion, and stress including
accidents and injuries take the spine beyond it’s normal limits. When this occurs
the body reacts. Inflammation and swelling begin, pain receptor cells start firing,
muscles become fatigued and spams and out-word signs such as postural
deviations and gait disturbances will be visible.
Chiropractors find and correct subluxations. This is done though a series of
specific adjustments, that restore the proper position and motion within the joint.
Understand, chiropractic is not a “quick fix”. The spine needs to be trained much
like working out. One work out does not make you healthy, the same is true for
chiropractic.
Below are the phases subluxation and the result of a neglected spine overtime.
Don’t let this happen to your spine. Regular chiropractic care needs to be apart of
your health care regimen.
