6. HISTORY OF CBS
 Core banking became possible with the advent of computer and
telecommunication technology that allowed information to be
shared between bank branches quickly and efficiently.
 Before the 1970s it used to take at least a day for a transaction to
reflect in the real account because each branch had their local
servers, and the data from the server in each branch was sent in a
batch to the servers in the data center only at the end of the day
(EOD).

7.  Over the following 30 years most banks moved to core banking
applications to support their operations creating a Centralized
Online Real-time Exchange (or Environment) (CORE).
 This meant that all the bank's branches could access applications
from centralized data centers.
 Deposits made were reflected immediately on the bank's servers,
and the customer could withdraw the deposited money from any
of the bank's branches.

 CBS IS A COMBINATION OF AN APPLICATION SOFTWARE AND NETWORK DEVICE,WHICH IS CENTERED
AROUND DATA CENTER.
 DATA CENTER ARE LARGE HOUSING INFRASTRUCTURE THAT PROVIDE HIGH BAND WIDTH ACCESS,IT
COULD HAVE MANY SERVERS LIKE – APPLICATION SERVER,DATA BASE SERVER,WEB SERVER,MAIL
SERVER,REPORT GENERATING SERVER.
 IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT SERVERS THROUGH PLACED IN THE SAME DATA CENTRE ARE NOT IN
THE SAME LAN(LOCAL AREA NETWORK)
 EACH SERVER IS SEGREGATED BY VLAN(VIRTUAL LOCAL AREA NETWORK) WHICH IS A VIRTUAL
NETWORK WITHIN A PHYSICAL NETWORK, IT IS DONE TO MAKE THE ENTRIE NETWORK MORE SECURE.

12.  CENTRAL APPLICATION SERVER THAT RUNS THE CORE BANKING SOLUTION, THIS APPLICATION IS
CENTRALLY ACCESSED BY THE BRANCHES.
 BRANCHES ACCESS THE DATA FROM CENTRAL DATA BASE SERVER.
 DATA BASE SERVER IS CENTRALLY LOCATED STORES THE DATA FOR THE BANK WHICH MEANS THAT THE
DATA FROM ALL THE BRANCHES OF A BANK ARE STORED IN IT.
