- 2. Clausal Types and Interrogatives
- 4. In addition to the subject-auxiliary inversion, wh- questions are introduced by one of the interrogative words such as who, what, which or where. The wh-phrases formed from these wh words have a variety of functions in the clause. For example, they can be the subject, object, oblique complement, or even an adjunct: a. [Who] called the police? b. [Which version] did they recommend? c. [With what] did the baby eat the food?
- 5. Movement vs. Feature Percolation • The wh-phrase who is originally in the object position of recommend and then moved to the specifier position of the intermediate phrase C0. The auxiliary verb will is also moved from the V position to the C.
