Estudo sobre o nascimento do webradio como uma nova mídia ímpar na evolução tecnológico-digital do fim do século XX e início do século XXI. Com o propósito de se analisar de que forma o webradio é classificado dentro dos meios de comunicação (se este se figura como meio de comunicação ou não), esse trabalho toma como base fundamental as teorias de cibercultura e Internet que, por exemplo, Castells, Pierre Lévy, Lúcia Santaella, Marshall McLuhan e Deleuze e Guattari, formularam em suas pesquisas e estudos. Parte-se da premissa de que, com o surgimento da Internet, os meios de comunicações de massa tiverem de se adaptar frente a nova realidade cibernética que alterou os modos de comportamento comunicacionais e os próprios meios de comunicação. Nesse sentido, o rádio convencional teve também de se adaptar, de certa forma e em certa medida, resultando no webradio. Esse estudo tem como enfoque principal, ainda, analisar se as pessoas que ouvem rádio via Internet figuram- se como ouvintes propriamente dito ou como internautas. Dessa maneira, estudaram-se teorias sobre cibercidade, tendências dos internautas e foram realizadas entrevistas com profissionais da área de Internet e webradio e questionário com internautas.
