Preparing for
Ramadhan
Prophet (S.A.W.) said that Allah Said:
"The most beloved deeds with which my slave
comes closer to Me are the obligatory deeds."
The holy
month of
Ramadhan is
one of the
great
blessings of
Allah which
He has
bestowed
upon mankind
The Prophethood of Muhammad (pbuh).
Qur’an was revealed for us in this month – as
the book of guidance, the criterion of right
and wrong, the light to illuminate our path, a
blessing, and a remedy to all problems.
Battle of Badr
The ‘day of victory’ also occurred during this
month when without shedding a drop of
blood the keys of Makkah were handed over.
A great
month
• A night that is better than a thousand months – Allah’s mercies and
blessings that are normally showered in thousands of months are all
showered in one night.
• This is the night in which Our Lord gave us His biggest gift, the Qur’an:
“We revealed it (the Clear Book) on a Blessed Night.”
• What is this “Clear Book”? It is a “Mercy from your Lord.”

• Nawafil = fard and fard =70x
• Month of purification - a person who observes fasting
during the month of Ramadhan will stand purified
from all his past sins;
• A person who stands in the night for prayers will
also be purified of his sins;
• A person who seeks the Night of Power during the
last 10 nights of Ramadhan with prayers and
supplications will also be purified.
Blessings
Dua of a Fasting Person is not rejected:
One of the most generous blessings by
Allah during the is the
opportunity of having our Duas
(supplications) accepted. Prophet (S.A.W.)
said:
“There are three whose supplication is
not rejected: The fasting person when he
breaks his fast, the just leader, and the
supplication of the oppressed person……”
Abstain from sins during Fast
During fast, abstaining from only
eating and drinking is not sufficient
to achieve piety but realistic and
sincere effort is demanded from a
fasting person to avoid all kinds of
sins. Prophet (S.A.W.) said that Allah
Said:
“Whoever does not give up evil and
ignorant speech, and acting in
accordance with that, Allah has no
need of his giving up his food and
drink.”
1- Gates of Heaven are
opened:
During the whole
month of Ramadan,
Allah Opens the gates
of Heaven and Closed
the doors of Hell.
Prophet (S.A.W.) said:
“When the month of
Ramadan starts, the
gates of the heaven are
opened and the gates
of Hell are closed and
the devils are
chained.”
Blessings of Ramadan and Fasting
2- Fasting is a shield from
Hell:
Ramadan Fasting is a great
worship and following
Hadith clearly shows that it
is a shield against fire of hell
and also a shield against
committing sins. Prophet
(S.A.W.) said:
“Fasting is a shield or
protection from the fire and
from committing sins.”
3- Reward of Obligations
increased by Seventy
Times:
In a long Hadith about
Ramadan, Salman Farsi
(R.A.) has said that
Prophet (S.A.W.) said:
“… Whoever performs a
fardh (obligation), shall
be given the reward of
seventy faraaidh
(obligations) in any
other time ….”
Quran, Fasting and Taqwa
• Quran = “it is a guidance for the pious,”
• Quran + fasting linked.
• Whats is Taqwa (piety)
• Allah has given guarantee of success, both here in this world and in the Hereafter,
to those who are pious.
• Piety is what shows the way out of every problem and difficulty.
• Piety opens up doors for bliss and blessings in ways that are not even imagined.
• Piety makes all the tasks, mundane and spiritual, easy.
• It is the pious who have been given the glad tidings of entering paradise; it is they
who have been promised forgiveness that paves the way towards paradise.

• In brief, it is that power and capability of the heart and the mind,
consciousness and awareness, determination and resolve, control and
discipline, and behaviour and character that enable us to avoid what
we deem wrong and harmful to us and to uphold what we deem right

• The literal meaning of Taqwah (piety) is ‘to avoid.’
