“ We will point you in the right direction"
HOW CAN I BECOME A FLIGHT ATTENDANT
About the Flight Attendant Curriculum
Have you ever heard of the saying “ Knowledge is power?” Well it is! At
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT ACADEMY We have designed a curriculum
that will ensure our candidate’s success.
After working for the airline industry for over 30 years, Mrs. Suarez designed
the following curriculum for those candidates who would like to aggressively
seek employment with a commercial airline. Mrs. Suarez made sure that all
aspects of interviewing and basic indoctrination training were covered.
“Once you have graduated from our academy, you will feel like someone
else” says Mrs. Suarez. “ I enjoy seeing how much more confident our
candidates become, they always look like they can take on the world”
CURRICULUM
I. EMPLOYMENT
- Candidate, Recruiter & Instructor
Introductions.
- What are the airline recruiters looking
for?
- Training criteria and expectations.
- Appearance Standards according to
the airline expectations. Discussion
and evaluations.
- Skin care consultation.
- Interviewing questions from actual
airline recruiters.
- Recruiter and candidate practice
interview.
• In the employment section of the
course, our candidate will be asked
to dressed as if they were actually
attending an airline interview.
• They will be professionally assessed
by an actual airline recruiter and
coached to meet the airline
appearance interviewing standards.
• A professional skin care consultant
will evaluate and recommend
skincare for our candidate. The skin
care consultation is for the
interviewing process, but also to be
able to care for it while in a
pressurized aircraft.
II. GENERAL STUDIES
- Airport/City Codes
- Airline Terminology
- Airline Abbreviations
- Military Time
III. FEDERAL AVIATION REGULATIONS
- What Are the FAR’s?
- Who enforces them?
- Why do we have them?
IV. DUTIES OFA FLIGHT ATTENDANT
- Uniform compliance
- Required items
- Check-in procedures
- Crew Briefings
- Emergency Equipment, pre-flight
- Emergency Equipment, how to use it
- Aircraft security
- FAR required announcements
- Emergency exits procedures
In the section of general studies, our candidate will
learn approximately 200 airport and city codes. On
some airlines you could be tested for up to 800 codes.
To learn airline terminology and abbreviation it is also
required during flight attendant basic indoctrination
training. In fact this lingo is almost another language.
The Federal Aviation Administration is a government
agency that make the rules and regulations for the
airline industry. They are also the ones that enforce
them. Flight Attendants are responsible for learning the
laws and applying them while on duty.
There are so many things Flight Attendants
are responsible for. Each airline has an
established procedure in order to be very
successful as a carrier. Many of those
procedures have been implemented by both
the FAA and the airline carrier in order to
protect their customer and crew. Sort of a
check and balances system.
V. SAFETY AND SECURITY
- Crewmember awareness
- FAA Crewmember self-defense
- Videos
VI. FIRST AID & CPR
- What is Hypoxia?
-Video
- How to recognize the symptoms of a
heart attack?
- Video
- What is CPR?
VII. EMERGENCY DRILLS
- Fighting a cabin fire
- Video
- Aircraft ditching
- Video
- Rapid decompression
- Video
Safety and security of a crewmember starts
the moment you become a flight attendant.
Awareness is our best friend, for that reason
our candidates will learn how to protect
themselves from the moment they leave
home for a trip until they are back safely at
home.
Each airline carrier must certify each
crewmember under their certificate. It is the
law. For that reason, even if you are
currently CPR certified, the airline’s
certification must be completed.
No emergency is ever the same in the airline
industry. For that reason, each and every
time you work for a different airline this
would be the most intense part of training.
Having an idea as to what to expect wile you
going thru training will help with the stress
and anxiety.
VIII. EVALUATIONS
- Final written exam
- Final oral exam
- Final Interview
IX. AFTER GRADUATION
- What is an I.O.E or O.E.?
- What happens if I do not pass it?
- Base awards
- Scheduling
- What is a Reserve
- Domicile awards
- Commuting and Relocation
X. BENEFITS
- Health Benefits
- Life Insurance
- Travel Benefits
Evaluations are very important for our
candidates. It gives us a way to measure
how quickly and how much information
they can retain. These are realistic
expectations. Remember they are getting
just a small portion of training, but the
intensity is the same. This training will
enable our student to understand and have a
realistic picture of what it takes to become a
Flight Attendant. There is so much more.
The life of a Flight Attendant is an amazing
one. It takes passion, dedication and
flexibility at all times.
If you feel this is the right career move for
you, then allow us to be the one to take you
there!!! With…
