This document provides an overview and methods for compliance studies conducted at McNary and John Day Dams in 2014 to evaluate survival and passage metrics for juvenile salmonids relative to standards in the 2008 FCRPS BiOp. Over 13,000 fish were tagged with acoustic and PIT tags and released upstream and downstream of the dams between April and July. Detection systems including cable arrays and over 400 autonomous nodes were used to track fish movements. Studies were conducted for yearling Chinook and steelhead in the spring and subyearling Chinook in the summer. Dam operations and fish collection, tagging, and release protocols are described to provide context for the results and data analyses.
