A 48-year-old woman had a lung nodule detected on a PET CT scan. Her lung nodule showed multiple areas of necrosis, as did a biopsy of her kidney. Tests determined she had a positive P-ANCA serum level of 1:160, leading to a diagnosis of Wegener's granulomatosis, a form of necrotizing vasculitis involving small blood vessels that can affect the lungs and kidneys.
