The UIDAI may hire a brand ambassador to promote India's Unique Identification project to inform over 1.2 billion Indians of its importance. 2. India, EU to host meet of G-23 on Doha
round of talks
 India and the European Union will jointly host a
brainstorming session of the Group of 23 countries to
explore how the stalled Doha trade negotiations could be
re-energized.
 In an attempt to chalk out the way-forward in the Doha
negotiating process, India and the EU are convening a
meeting of trade envoys of the G-23 group that includes
United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, Switzerland,
China, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Indonesia, South
Korea, Mexico, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Zambia, Mauritius,
Barbados, Turkey, Venezuela, Chile, Norway Malaysia,
Colombia, and Pakistan.
 After nine years of marathon negotiations, the Doha deal is
nowhere in sight as there is no consensus on key
agriculture and market access issue

 The World Trade Organization's remaining 152
members who seem tired and exhausted with the
Doha negotiations are ready to finalize a deal on
the basis of what is on the table at this moment
with some minor changes.
 Part of the problem for the stalemate in the Doha
negotiations is what is called the "payment" that
would largely determine what ought to be the
magnitude of trade concessions that a country
would take in return for the market access it
offers.

4. UIDAI might rope-in brand
ambassador to promote project
 A brand ambassador for the
Government's highly-ambitious Unique
Identification Number (UID) project
could be on the cards .
 Given the complexities involved in the
task, especially that of positioning of the
project and relevant communication to
1.2 billion Indians, a well-known brand
ambassador would be of great help.

 It would be done to promote the campaign
and make the masses aware of the
importance of the UID.
 In April this year, the Unique Identification
Authority of India (UIDAI), headed by Nandan
Nilekani, had given the brand name 'Aadhaar'
to the project with its own logo.
 Under this project, all the residents of the
country would get a unique identity number,
which would enable them to have access to a
host of benefits and services.

6. Fierce competion awaits
Volkswagen’s new sedan in the
India market
 Built on their hatchback Polo’s platform, in simple
terms Vento is Polo with a boot! Something like
the way Maruti Suzuki came out with the Swift
Dzire out of the Swift hatch. VW unveiled Vento
about a month back in Russia , where it is known
as Polo sedan.
 Aimed squarely at a segment dominated by
Honda City, Vento brings competition that the
former should be wary of.

 It comes with both a petrol and diesel engine which
easily negates the City and SX4’s edge to an extent.
Honda has been working on a diesel variant for the
City. As far as Fiesta is concerned, somehow people
are so concerned about Ford’s maintenance
reputation that a car this good has also got to prove
its mettle time and again.
 Though Vento is a segment higher than Polo, VW is
bound to face problems during its sale. Even today
there is a waiting period of at least two months for
Polo.

8. City priced at Rs 9.53-10.25

 Japaness automobile major Honda's Indian subsidiary
launched a new variant of its popular model, City, at a
price between Rs 9.53 lakh and Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-
showroom Delhi).
 Called Exclusive, the new car will have additional
interior and exterior features such as leather seats
and steering, which are not present in the regular one.
 The Exclusive is aimed at further delighting customers
with exclusive luxurious features during this festival
period.

9. HP to launch new webOS phones
in early 2011
 Hewlett-Packard Co will introduce smartphones in
early 2011 using the webOS software it acquired.
 HP, the world's largest technology company by
revenue, is already a dominant force in PCs, servers,
services and printers.
 But without a credible smartphone offering, it risked
being left behind in a rising and highly profitable
market.
 PC makers Dell , Lenovo and Acer are all pushing
into smartphones, which offer advanced services
such as streaming video, e-mail and GPS in addition
to voice calls.
