The Reserve Bank of India has banned 3 multinational banks - Standard Chartered, Societe Generali, and Calyon - from trading government bonds in India for 6 months. The Securities and Exchange Board of India has doubled the limit for maximum applications by individual investors in public issues to Rs. 2 lakh from Rs. 1 lakh. Videocon is entering the general insurance business through a joint venture with US-based Liberty Mutual Group, where Liberty Mutual will hold a 26% stake and the JV will focus on personal non-life insurance products.
