The stock market had a positive week, with the Nifty index gaining 10.81% over the period. The Sensex, however, declined slightly by 0.10%. Rupee appreciated against the US dollar. Top sectoral gainers included capital goods and oil & gas, while information technology and health care declined. Globally, US markets were mostly flat while Asian markets like Japan and Hong Kong saw declines. Market overview:
Financial year 2017-18 kick started on a cheerful note as the
benchmark index opened with a good upside gap on
Monday. Nifty ended with highest point of the day after a
small correction in initial trade. The same continued on
Wednesday too but the up move was short lived as some
selling pressure from opening trades. The rest of the week
witness some corrective moves and as a result, the nifty made
its inter week gain to conclude marginal gain.
