Today's public speaking class covered the following topics: 1) A review of language that should be used when presenting, including using personal pronouns to refer to the audience and keeping language simple. 2) A review of changing passive sentences to active sentences as an exercise. 3) A discussion of different types of charts, including line graphs, bar charts, pie charts, and tables. Key terms for describing change on graphs were also covered. 4) Rules for effective use of visual aids in presentations, including keeping things simple, following a 6x6 guideline for visual size, letting images convey meaning, being consistent, and not relying solely on aids. 5) Students worked in pairs
