• We care about technology in this class, but whose technology?
• Mine? Yours? Your teachers? Your students?
• Consider who your students are (not what you are used
to), and go from there?

• There are many ways to think about who your students
are in light of the digital SHIFT
• One way is “Digital Natives” or “Digital Immigrants”
• Digital natives
o Native speakers of the digital language of computers, video
games, and the Internet. THEY’VE NEVER KNOWN IT ANY
OTHER WAY.
• Digital immigrants
o Those not born into the digital world, but have, at some point in
their lives, become fascinated by and adopted many or most
aspects of the new technology
o Other ways?

o Try to be specific…
• How might it impact your responsibilities as a teacher?
o Again, think of specific impacts or situations
