There are 44 track and field events in the Olympics, more than any other sport. The events can be divided into running, walking, relays, and hurdles. Running events include sprints from 100m to 10,000m, as well as marathon and steeplechase races. Hurdles races require runners to clear barriers as they run short or intermediate distances. Relay races involve teams passing a baton as each runner completes their portion of the race. Walking events involve covering long distances while maintaining a regulated walking form.
