THE VALUE OF
As citizens, we are aware of the ideals that
our government and officials must live up to.
“Real life politics”, however, shows that
certain actions by governments and individual
politicians do not necessarily conform to what
we consider as ideal behavior.
POLITICS
THE VALUE OF
We often hear news reports on politicians
accused of unethical and illegal actions, of
government workers and members of the
police allegedly abusing authority and are
inefficient.
POLITICS
THE VALUE OF
Conventional ideas regarding politics often
emphasize power, access to services and
opportunities, and control over resources,
particularly money. Therefore, it is an
advantage to us citizen to participate actively
to politics because it offers benefits, as
follows:
POLITICS
• Politics helps you to
know your rights;
• Politics clarifies what
you yourself believe;
• Politics is a living and
breathing subject;
• Politics helps you
understand our
nation’s parties;
• Politics prepares you
for adult life.
THE VALUE OF
POLITICS
As citizens, it is our
responsibility to
participate in the
discussion of political
issues to clarify, define,
and make sense of the
political problems we
face.

THE VALUE OF
POLITICS
Everyone must be aware of the
duties and responsibilities of all
government officials’ vis-a-vis
the pledge they made during
their campaign for the office
each of them currently holds. As
a response to the commitment
each one of them made, draft
your own commitment/pledge
to achieve the common good.

Editor's Notes

  • #2 To start with. . .
  • #6 Give ideas what and how could it be if the world has no politics
  • #7 The study of politics provides us with a view of principles and ideals that influence the development of politics and governance through the century. Many of these ideals, however, are rendered imperfectly in the real world.
  • #8 Name some of the political issues that allegedly includes politicians
  • #9 Good politics is laid over political ideals, moral and ethical standards.
  • #10 It is important for citizens to have an understanding of how government works, as well as an awareness to its various limitations and problems. Issues such as bribery, graft and corruption, inefficient public service, poverty, crime, and other social problems are indications of the limitations of government.
  • #11 Having adequate information regarding government and governance will enable us work together to formulate plans and programs that will engage the government in addressing its limitations and, in the long run, uphold good government and effective governance.
  • #12 Let’s go back to the picture I showed you a while ago Is having politics in a country a must? Why?
  • #13 What makes the politics a good one? Why is it important for us to participate dynamically in the government?
