OpenOffice.org is a global community and productivity suite that is free for anyone to use and contribute to. The community is strengthened by new members like IBM and RedFlag 2000 who join existing members like Sun, Novell, and Red Hat. OpenOffice.org 3.0 will shift its focus to be a global collaboration suite using web 2.0 features with a new personal information manager and improved interoperability. It will also have more productivity tools and support for developing extensions and working with ODF formats. The release highlights new functionality like a calendar client, improved PDF support, web 2.0 integration, reporting tools, new chart types, and MS Office XML 2007 import capabilities.
