This document provides an introduction and overview of a web quest on fairy tales for second grade students. The web quest consists of three main tasks: 1) reading a fairy tale and analyzing its elements, 2) working in groups to create character profiles from the tales, and 3) writing an original fractured fairy tale using the analyzed elements and character profiles. Students will read fairy tales, complete analysis charts, create character posters in groups, and write their own stories. The web quest aims to teach students about fairy tale elements and characters through interactive activities.

Most stories have Princesses, Princes, Kings, Queens, or Royalty. Animals can talk or have special powers. Humans can take unusual forms or roles like giants, witches, or dwarfs. The setting is usually make believe with castles, kingdoms, and forests. Magic is present in events, places, or is used for good or evil. Main characters (Good) usually face misfortune (Evil). Villains are often powerful and use evil magic in the story. Problems often to lead to a solution or lesson at the end of the story. Most stories have “happily ever after” endings.
