Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) is a standard that allows portlets and applications to be served remotely and integrated into portals. It defines interfaces that allow portlet producers to provide portlets and supporting services to portlet consumers like portals. This allows portlets to be centrally hosted and distributed to multiple portals, simplifying administration and allowing portlets to be dynamically added to portals. WSRP aims to make the internet a marketplace of visual web services that can be easily integrated into portals.

Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) is a web services standard that allows
to "plug-n-play" visual, user-facing web services with portals or other intermediary
web applications. It allows to create a repository of services that can be reference
to surface applications in their portlets or to consume applications from WSRP-compliant
