Web is basically a system of Internet servers that support formatted documents. HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is used to format them. It consists of videos, audio and graphics.
We can access or browse the web pages with the help of web browsers.
Web browsers examples: Mozilla, chrome
Evolution of web :
On the thirtieth of April 1993 The European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) released the source code of WorldWideWeb into the public domain, so anyone could use or build upon the software without charge.
Marc Andreessen left NCSA and together with Jim Clark founded Mosaic Communications, later renamed to Netscape Communications Corporation, and started work on what was to become Netscape Navigator.
Version 1.0 of the software was released in December 1994.
In August 1995 Spyglass Inc. licensed their Mosaic technology to Microsoft to form the basis of Internet Explorer and the version 1.0 of internet explorer was released.
Protocals:
TCP/IP : The Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) was introduced as the standard networking protocol on the ARPANET in 1982.
Http : Development of HTTP was initiated by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in 1989. The first definition of HTTP/1.1 occurred in RFC 2068 in 1997.Http/2 was standardized into 2015.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Definition
What is a Web Browser?
In simple Words a web browser is a
program used to
Interpret and view HTML documents.
OR
A web browser is a software application
for retrieving, presenting, and traversing
information resources on the World
Wide Web.
3. History
How all this started?
The first web browser was invented in 1990 by Sir Tim Berners-Lee. It
was called WorldWideWeb (no spaces) and was later renamed Nexus.
In 1993, browser software was further innovated by Marc Andreessen
with the release of Mosaic (later Netscape)
Microsoft responded with its Internet Explorer in 1995, also heavily
influenced by Mosaic, initiating the industry's first browser war.
Opera debuted in 1996.
January 1998 was also the month that Netscape started the open
source Mozilla project.
Google's Chrome, the most recent major entrant to the browser
market, first released in September 2008.

5. How Browser Work?
The browser main functionality is to present the web resource you choose,
by requesting it from the server and displaying it on the browser window.
The resource is usually an HTML document, but may also be a PDF, image,
or other type.
The location of the resource is specified by the user using a URI (Uniform
resource Identifier).
As You Write URL and hit GO button browser program sends a request
(Could I have the web page please?) to a web server program running on
the remote computer.
The server program, gathers the request from the web browser, tries to hunt
for the web page and then formulates a response.
6. How Browser Work? Contd.
If server was able to locate the web page, it sends the HTML file to the web
browser.
The browser picks up all the information coming in from the server and does
its best to display the web page.
A typical web page not only has text but also images and these are separate
files that need to be transferred from the server to the browser.
The browser-server communication goes on till all the files have been
transferred to the browser.
After that Browser-server connection is disconnected and Web Page is
Displayed on the browser window.
7. Add-Ons?
Add-ons, also known as ActiveX controls, browser
extensions can improve your experience on a website by
providing multimedia or interactive content, such as
animations.
They help our browser program to communicate with some
special type of Internet Files like Adobe shockwave player is
needed to watch videos online.
