iOS Development Talk - KP Digital Youth Summit 2014Usman Khan
An introductory talk on iOS Application Development and how the iOS ecosystem stands against Android's in terms of some facts and figures. Discussing some of the basics of iOS App Development and things to-do before you get started with it. The talk also shows some local successes on the App Store from Pakistan, and why the iOS ecosystem is a very lucrative platform for developers. The talk was delivered by the author of this presentation during the Digital Youth Summit in Peshawar on March 2014.

iOS to Android: how we translated GigTown App into Material DesignMałgorzata Fiedorow
Right after Google introduced their new design language, Material Design, we started working with GigTown – a service allowing users to browse local musicians and book them for events. I’m going to talk about the process of designing a native Material Design Android App while keeping in mind iOS app structure and product look and feel.
You’ve Only Got Two Eyeballs: Designing Products for the Responsive WebDavid Sherwin
People expect to access and use the products that they love everywhere that they go. With an ever-increasing number of different smartphones, tablets, computers, wearables, and televisions that allow us to view websites, this makes our jobs as interactive designers even more challenging. Are you helping them focus on what they really need to get done, on the devices where they need that functionality the most?
In this workshop from HOW Design Live 2016, which was led by David Sherwin and Drew Bridewell with about 250 people, we shared techniques to help teams:
● Prioritize what product features will have the most value for your users across smartphone, tablet, desktop, TV, wearables, and other devices—so you’re investing your time and energy into the right features in the right places
● Validate your product assumptions and hypotheses through paper and digital prototypes, so you can start building those features intelligently
● Plan the implementation of your product features for development in a modular, componentized manner that makes them easier to test and scale
Along with workshop activities rooted in the above techniques, we shared how we used similar approaches in a redesign of the learning experience of Lynda.com as a responsive web product.
Appium - Reality check on the world’s leading Open Source Framework for Mobil...Asaf Saar
Appium is clearly the world leading framework for mobile apps test automation. Adoption of Appium is in constant rise, and for the good reasons.
Yet, in many cases those who do their initial steps or even progressing with the framework realize that the world is not that simple, challenges arise, limitations are discovered and one can find himself wondering whether the right decision was taken in investing the time and money into it (yes... open source cost you money).
In this talk we will pause for a while, review why Appium is an outstanding framework, while also do a reality check of the cons and pros of Appium, helping you make the best out of it, or at least have a clear understanding of what's ahead of you.
How the hell do I run my microservices in production, and will it scale?Katarzyna Hoffman
Let’s assume you’ve already had every *Docker 101 tutorial* for breakfast. You’re now ready to take that brilliantly crafted application into production. But wait… first you need to test your container-based microservices architecture. What does the whole DevOps workflow look like? What about performance and security? And last but not least; how the hell do I run my microservices in production, and will it scale?
Let Daniël guide you through the wonderful world of container-based development and running microservice architectures at scale. By attending the talk, you’ll gain insight into how to bootstrap and dive straight into learning what DevOps workflow should look like when using containers.

Ben and I had the pleasure to kick off the Palm Developer Day in April 2010. We share our excitement over having an Open Web platform, how that platform has gotten fantastic, and how it has the opportunity to become the unifying platform across devices and form factors.
We then go into new features coming in webOS.
At various Google Developer Day events in Europe I gave a talk on the State of Ajax, that focuses on the core issue of User Experience and where to go from here.
I had the pleasure of talking at @media Ajax London in Westminster on Sept 15th 2008. I talked about the history of Gears and how it is converging with HTML 5 to give developers options.
Google Back To Front: From Gears to App Engine and Beyonddion
I had the privilege of giving a Yahoo! Tech Talk at their HQ in Sunnyvale. I spoke on Gears, App Engine, and other technologies such as the Ajax Libraries API and Doctype.
This is the presentation that I gave on the European On Air tour in Munich. Hence the footy pieces. A lot of the presentation was going through a live application, a port of the addressbook app to App Engine, that lives on Google Code.
Ben and Dion give an overview of the state of Ajax at JavaOne, using Java technology too, and a fun Wii darts demo that you can see more info on at: http://ajaxian.com/archives/wii-darts-powering-ajax-applications-with-wii-controllers

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
