 Who we are?
WCF was founded in 2013 by an Indonesian social activist named Gemma Sasmita and
Joseph Ghairat ( Afghanistan ) with the aim to help countries overcome the problems in
children such as malnutrition, education and sports issues, we are currently focused in the
area of Indonesia. WCF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every
child are realized. We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety
of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. That makes us
unique among world Non-profit organizations, and unique among those working with the
young.
We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress.
WCF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles
that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that
we can, together, advance the cause of humanity. We advocate for measures to give
children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest
foundation for a person’s future.
 Siapa Kami?

NARROWING THE GAP
FOR INDONESIA’S CHILDREN
In a large and diverse country like Indonesia which is
fast emerging as one of the strongest economies,
children and young people play a key role in future
development. Of Indonesia’s population of some 250
million people, around 84 million – or one third - are
children under the age of 18.4 With a fertility rate of 2.65
and a life expectancy at birth of 69 years for men and 73
years for women6, the country will continue to have a
rapidly expanding child and youth population.
While focusing on economic growth, national policies
need to pay equal attention to fulfilling the rights of
citizens and to ensuring social justice. The unfinished
agenda of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
requires national governments and development
partners to bridge inequities and make significant
improvements in the lives and welfare of women and
children. Moving into Post 2015, the UN’s Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) put larger emphasis on
countries to address inclusive growth, human rights and
sustainable development. In order to produce results on
the MDGs, outcomes must be equitable across the
population, benefitting all children. However, in
Indonesia, overall progress at national level often masks
huge disparities. Too many children still remain
unreached.

 Children in the poorest households are
more than three times as likely to die during
their first five years of life when compared
to children from the wealthiest households.
 Data on sanitation reveals that while 0% of
the richest quintile practice open
defecation, amongst the poorest quintile
this figure is as high as 61%
 Despite progress since 1990, there is still
an unacceptably high number of women
dying in child birth. The result of the 2012
IDHS (359/100,000) is substantially higher
than the modelled global estimates and
higher than the 2007 IDHS estimates.
 Indicators on education show that among
the age group of 13 to 15 year olds, children
from the poorest households are 4 times
more likely to be out-of-school than children
from the richest families.
 In Indonesia, around 25 per cent of girls are
married before their 18th birthday; one of
the highest rates in the East Asia and
Pacific region.
All Indonesia's children have the right to
health, quality education, dignity and the
opportunity to fulfill their potential.
Investments in Indonesia's children are
investments in Indonesia's future. To
ensure that the unfinished agenda of the
MDGs can be achieved with equity, WCF
commitment to support the Government
of Indonesia and other partners in
identifying those children who are
excluded from progress, thus protecting
and advancing the rights of all children in
Indonesia.

What we do?
WCF has made efforts to help the children to get a good life, health and a better future.
FOCUS AREA
Proper nutrition is a powerful good: people who are well
nourished are more likely to be healthy, productive and
able to learn. Good nutrition benefits families, their
communities and the world as a whole.
For that reason we move together to raise funds and
provide food for children who hunger and malnutrition by
organizing a charity events.
NUTRITION
WCF’s work with sport is grounded in its mission to
ensure that every child has the right to play and sport in
a safe and healthy environment – a right founded in
Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
and other international treaties.
We work closely with several sports organizations and
athlete to support children so that they gain new
experiences and best guidance in sports
SPORT
EDUCATION
Access to education has improved in the past decade
for millions of children. But far too many of the world’s
most disadvantaged children remain excluded from
school, and many of the children in school do not learn
the basic skills they need to lead productive lives.
Education systems in Indonesia must do more than
increase resources to engage the children excluded
because of location, gender, disability, ethnic origin,
violence or natural disaster. Addressing these
challenges requires more than business as usual.

Where we work?
This time we continue to widen the range to be able to help abandoned children and
orphans at some point in Afghanistan ( kabul ) and Indonesia (Jakarta, central java and
merauke ( semangga and okaba) . Which is still widely seen children starving, dropout,
malnutrition and some other children's issues.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH):
Afghanistan’s semi-arid climate leads to rapid
evaporation of surface water, meaning urban and
rural communities must rely heavily on
groundwater that is hard to access and transport.
WASH activities address the lack of clean water, as
well as poor hygiene and sanitation practices in the
country. On-going projects include:
 Building latrines and handwashing facilities for
boys and girls in 500 schools annually;
 Coordinating emergency drought relief initiatives
of water-tankering, distribution of bio-sand filters
for household use and disinfecting wells.

How we work?
We do fundraising and outreach to the community about our social programs, involving
community participation will be easier to reach children in need. We also continue to
maintain good relations between the institution and the community to work together to
control the ongoing social activities.

WCF was founded in 2013 by an Indonesian social activist named Gemma Sasmita and Joseph Ghairat ( Afghanistan ) with the aim to help countries overcome the problems in children such as malnutrition, education and sports issues, we are currently focused in the area of Indonesia. WCF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. That makes us unique among world Non-profit organizations, and unique among those working with the young. We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. WCF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity. We advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.  Siapa Kami? ©WCFINDONESIA/2015/gemma * children in Merauke so cheerful and happy
  • 4. 4 | W C F I N D O N E S I A NARROWING THE GAP FOR INDONESIA’S CHILDREN In a large and diverse country like Indonesia which is fast emerging as one of the strongest economies, children and young people play a key role in future development. Of Indonesia’s population of some 250 million people, around 84 million – or one third - are children under the age of 18.4 With a fertility rate of 2.65 and a life expectancy at birth of 69 years for men and 73 years for women6, the country will continue to have a rapidly expanding child and youth population. While focusing on economic growth, national policies need to pay equal attention to fulfilling the rights of citizens and to ensuring social justice. The unfinished agenda of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) requires national governments and development partners to bridge inequities and make significant improvements in the lives and welfare of women and children. Moving into Post 2015, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) put larger emphasis on countries to address inclusive growth, human rights and sustainable development. In order to produce results on the MDGs, outcomes must be equitable across the population, benefitting all children. However, in Indonesia, overall progress at national level often masks huge disparities. Too many children still remain unreached. • 5. 5 | W C F I N D O N E S I A  Children in the poorest households are more than three times as likely to die during their first five years of life when compared to children from the wealthiest households.  Data on sanitation reveals that while 0% of the richest quintile practice open defecation, amongst the poorest quintile this figure is as high as 61%  Despite progress since 1990, there is still an unacceptably high number of women dying in child birth. The result of the 2012 IDHS (359/100,000) is substantially higher than the modelled global estimates and higher than the 2007 IDHS estimates.  Indicators on education show that among the age group of 13 to 15 year olds, children from the poorest households are 4 times more likely to be out-of-school than children from the richest families.  In Indonesia, around 25 per cent of girls are married before their 18th birthday; one of the highest rates in the East Asia and Pacific region. All Indonesia's children have the right to health, quality education, dignity and the opportunity to fulfill their potential. Investments in Indonesia's children are investments in Indonesia's future. To ensure that the unfinished agenda of the MDGs can be achieved with equity, WCF commitment to support the Government of Indonesia and other partners in identifying those children who are excluded from progress, thus protecting and advancing the rights of all children in Indonesia.
  • 6. 6 | W C F I N D O N E S I A What we do? WCF has made efforts to help the children to get a good life, health and a better future. FOCUS AREA Proper nutrition is a powerful good: people who are well nourished are more likely to be healthy, productive and able to learn. Good nutrition benefits families, their communities and the world as a whole. For that reason we move together to raise funds and provide food for children who hunger and malnutrition by organizing a charity events. NUTRITION WCF’s work with sport is grounded in its mission to ensure that every child has the right to play and sport in a safe and healthy environment – a right founded in Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international treaties. We work closely with several sports organizations and athlete to support children so that they gain new experiences and best guidance in sports SPORT EDUCATION Access to education has improved in the past decade for millions of children. But far too many of the world’s most disadvantaged children remain excluded from school, and many of the children in school do not learn the basic skills they need to lead productive lives. Education systems in Indonesia must do more than increase resources to engage the children excluded because of location, gender, disability, ethnic origin, violence or natural disaster. Addressing these challenges requires more than business as usual.

WASH activities address the lack of clean water, as well as poor hygiene and sanitation practices in the country. On-going projects include:  Building latrines and handwashing facilities for boys and girls in 500 schools annually;  Coordinating emergency drought relief initiatives of water-tankering, distribution of bio-sand filters for household use and disinfecting wells.
