Women’s Basketball Announces Additions to Staff
inShare
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball Head Coach Garry Brodhead announced the hiring of Assistant Coach
Amber Gregg and Director of Basketball Operations Mary Chris Vogt on Thursday, rounding out his staff for the 2015-16 season.
Gregg comes to Lafayette after spending the past five seasons as the Director of Player Development for the Austin Elite basketball
program. She served as the head coach of the Austin Elite Boys 17U team from 2012-14 and held an assistant position for the Austin Elite
Girls 17U team from 2009-11.
"Amber comes from a basketball family," Brodhead said. "Her ability to develop players and recruit players is important. She has been
involved in an AAU program (at Austin Elite), which is run by her father. I think she brings something we always look for in young coaches.
"She was mentored by her father and brings a lot of welcomed knowledge of the game. Her passion and work ethic for the women's game
and her abilities to work very hard for the Cajuns program will pay dividends and help continue to grow the program here in Lafayette."
Gregg enjoyed a decorative career at UTSA from 2007-2011, averaging 13.4 points per game. During her career as a Roadrunner, Gregg
was a three-time All-Southland Conference selection, leading UTSA to a pair of Southland Tournament championships and two Southland
Tournament regular season titles. She left her mark at UTSA as the program's all-time three-point field goal leader (200) and is ranked
ninth on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,143 points. Gregg's 32 points in a single game is tied for fifth-most in UTSA history while
playing in 118 games, tied for the second-most for a Roadrunner.
Vogt comes to Louisiana from Texas A&M where she worked for Hall of Fame coach Gary Blair for the past four seasons. While at Texas
A&M, Vogt served a number of roles working as a camp director, a camp coach and an assistant video coordinator. Vogt was also a three-
year letterwinner for the Carrollton Newman Smith High School basketball team in Carrollton, Texas.
"It's exciting to have someone come from a program like Texas A&M," Brodhead said. "She brings a lot of knowledge from College Station
that will help develop our program in that development role for the Cajuns."
The Cajuns, a team that finished 23-12 and won the WBI Championship last season, return nine letterwinners, including five starters. They
begin practice next Tuesday, Oct. 6 in preparation for their Nov. 9 exhibition opener against LSU-Alexandria to kick off the season.
Season tickets for the 2015-16 campaign are available by calling the Cajundome ticket office at (337) 265-2100, or by emailing Director of
Tickets, Matt Casbon at mcasbon@cajundome.com.
