Coach's Corner
Hey Husky Fans!
First and foremost I'd like to introduce myself, my staff, and express our excitement about the opportunity to be
part of the Northeastern Women's basketball experience! Being no stranger to Boston or the whirlwind that is Dl
competition, each and every member of the team is committed to rebuilding what, for many years, was a
recognized as a women's basketball stronghold in the Northeast.
An 'almost' entirely new coaching staff brings much enthusiasm, coaching, and playing experience to the
hardwood. Our first hire (and arguably our best...), was Kash Cannon as Director of Basketball Operations. A
standout student & player for the Huskies from 2008 to 2013, Kash has proven invaluable to our transition both on
& off the court! Jill Glessner, Ganiyat Adedentun and Chris Passmore, arrived on campus July 1st (Yes... just 4
days before the recruiting period), with fistfuls of energy, coaching experience, and an unbridled faith in the future
of this program!
Enough already about us... Here's a little update & insight to this years team! When we stepped onto the floor in June for a few Summer ll
team workouts, I'm sure we were all a little frightened. Fortunately, the game we love levels the playing fields. From day one the team jumped
on board with a new brand of ideas, styles and expectations. "Respect the Opportunity" and "Deserve Victory" -- our two mantras this season -
- remind us daily that hard work, commitment and team are the foundation of future success. Our focus is firmly rooted on improvement --
mentally, physically, on the court and in the classroom.
As we head into the heart of our non-conference schedule with high expectations, we look forward to the challenges ahead. With each
practice, game & late night wintery road trip, we'll focus on taking care of the details... strengthening the foundation... and creating many new
successes along the road!!
I'd love to invite you to visit us on campus, get to Cabot for a game, and follow the team's progress online thru the GoNu.com web page,
Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and via the new team blog we've got up and rolling!
We're thrilled to join the Northeastern family and look forward to forging a new era of Husky Women's Basketball!
Best,
Coach Cole

Season Update
Northeastern University Names Kelly Cole Women's Basketball Head Coach
Kelly Cole, a coaching veteran with more than two decades of experience and three Sweet 16 appearances, has been named Northeastern
University women's basketball head coach, athletic director Peter Roby announced Monday (June 9).
"We are very excited to welcome Kelly to Northeastern and to have someone of her character and caliber leading our women's basketball
program," Roby said. "Kelly brings great experience, energy, and enthusiasm to the position. She is committed to the student-athlete
experience and to helping young people achieve both on and off the court. She has been successful at every stop along her coaching path,
with 10 20-win seasons and 11 postseason appearances in 13 years as a Division I coach. Her peers in the industry and her former players
speak very highly of her. I look forward to working with Kelly in building an exciting future for our women's basketball program."
Cole, who becomes the sixth coach in program history, will be formally introduced at a press conference on Wednesday at noon at Cabot
Center on the Northeastern campus. Members of the media and of the Northeastern community are invited to attend the introductory event.
Cole arrives at Northeastern after two years as an assistant coach at Harvard University. An accomplished coach, she also spent nine seasons
at Boston College, two years at Northwestern University, and 11 years at the high school level. In 13 seasons at the Division I level, Cole has
made 11 trips to the postseason, including eight NCAA tournament berths and three Sweet 16 appearances.
"I am extremely excited to join the Northeastern community, to step into an accomplished athletic department, and to lead a basketball program
with such tremendous potential," Cole said. "The Boston area has been my home for nearly 20 years, and I have spent the better part of my
college coaching career recruiting high-achieving student-athletes to this world-class city. Northeastern provides the perfect combination of
high-level academic and athletic offerings, all in the heart of this great city. I am grateful to
Peter Roby and Regina Sullivan for this tremendous opportunity and look forward to getting started."
At Harvard, Cole helped lead the Crimson to a 43-17 record, including a 22-6 mark in Ivy League play, and two WNIT appearances. Last
season, the Crimson registered the second-most wins in program history and became the first Ivy League program to earn an at-large berth
into a postseason tournament. Cole aided in the development of Temi Fagbenle, a first team All-Ivy selection that led the conference in
rebounding.
"We were so lucky to have Kelly with us at Harvard, even for just two years," said Harvard head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith. "Kelly brought
great knowledge, experience, and energy to our team and I believe Northeastern has gotten themselves one of the best. I, for one, am so glad
she is going to be just across town."
Cole spent nine successful seasons at Boston College working with head coach Cathy Inglese, including the final two as associate head
coach. During her tenure in Chestnut Hill, the Eagles compiled a 192-89 mark, including a 93-53 conference record, and made seven trips to
the NCAA tournament. BC won 20 or more games and advanced to the NCAA tournament in each of Cole's final five seasons and appeared in
the Sweet 16 three times.
Cole began her collegiate coaching career at her alma mater, Northwestern University, where she helped the Wildcats to the WNIT semifinals
in 1996 and to the NCAA tournament in 1997. Northwestern won 40 games during her two years on staff, going 40-22, while compiling 17 wins
in Big Ten games.
"Kelly is a winner on and off the court and I look forward to many bright years ahead for the Huskies under her leadership," said
Regina Sullivan, executive senior associate athletic director at Northeastern. "Her positive energy, dedication, and contagious enthusiasm will
be an asset to the women's basketball program, the athletic department, and the university."
Cole also has broad experience at the high school level. She served as the head girls' basketball and volleyball coach at Newberg High School
in Oregon from 1991 to 1996, before launching her collegiate coaching career at her alma mater.
After the 2006 season at Boston College, Cole returned to high school coaching, citing the desire to spend more time with her family. She
spent time at Boston-area schools Gann Academy, Bedford High, and Buckingham Browne & Nichols from 2006 to 2012. During that time, she
also launched a basketball skill development and training program for young players.
Cole graduated from Northwestern University in 1991 with a degree in secondary education and English. She played four seasons for the
Wildcats, serving as team captain from 1989 to 1991, and finished her career with 1,206 career points.
Cole is married with three children and resides in Waltham.
Cole adds three to women's basketball coaching staff
3. Northeastern women's basketball head coach Kelly Cole announced on Friday that Ganiyat Adeduntan, Jill Glessner, and Chris
Passmore have joined the Huskies as assistant coaches.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ganiyat, Jill and Chris to the Northeastern family," Cole said. "They will all bring a tremendous amount of
enthusiasm and energy to the program, and are also excellent recruiters. They each come from successful programs in the past, and
recognize the importance of their roles as both role models and educators."
Ganiyat Adeduntan
Adeduntan returns to Huntington Ave. after a two-year stint as the head basketball coach at Wheelock College, where she led the Wildcats to
their first playoff appearance in 12 years last season while matching the school record for wins in a season as well as conference victories. Her
2013 recruiting class also produced the program's first conference rookie of the year as well as a first team all-conference honoree for the first
time since 2001.
Before her stint at Wheelock, Adeduntan was an administrative assistant for the NU women's basketball program, where she assisted the
director of operations in overall functioning of the office as well as coordinating incoming and outgoing film exchange with opponents.
Prior to her coaching career, Adeduntan enjoyed a stellar playing career both at the prep and collegiate level. She was one of the top players in
the nation coming out of high school and was a McDonald's All-American finalist as well as the Georgia Gatorade and Northeast Georgia
Player of the Year. She burst onto the scene at Florida State, earning a spot on the All-ACC rookie team as an honorable mention and went on
to garner ACC All-Conference honorable mention accolades following her junior campaign. She was also named to the 2005 ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-District III first team.
A captain for the Seminoles in her final season, she finished her career as just one of 19 players in school history to score more than 1,000
career points. She was also a standout in the classroom, and was named to the ACC Academic Team all four years at FSU and graduated with
a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing before earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northeastern in 2012.
Jill Glessner
Glessner arrives at Northeastern following four seasons at Loyola as an assistant coach. Glessner also served as the team's recruiting
coordinator in 2013-14, where she managed the recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations.
As an assistant coach, she was responsible for skill development of the guards and point guards through game film and on court instruction.
Glessner also worked on opponent scouting, and generated detailed scouting reports for players and coaches, in addition to breaking down
game film.
Glessner was a four-year student-athlete for the Greyhounds, finishing her career ranked eighth in program history with 265 career assists. As
a senior, she averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 33.6 minutes per game en route to First Team All-Metro Atlantic honors in 2007. She
also helped Loyola to the 2006 MAAC title game and the conference semifinals in 2007. Glessner earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in
psychology from Loyola in 2007, and her Masters in sports administration from Canisius College in 2010. Following her collegiate career, she
played three seasons of professional basketball in Europe.
Chris Passmore
Passmore comes to Northeastern after four seasons at the University of Rhode Island, including three as the director of operations before
being promoted to assistant coach last season. In addition to organizing and implementing summer, preseason and postseason skill
development for the Rams, Passmore was responsible for organizing the defensive system and monitoring defensive adjustments.
Passmore also played a significant role in recruiting for Rhode Island in 2013-14, and was part of a team that brought eight Top 100 players to
campus and secured the No. 46 ranked shooting guard in the 2014 recruiting class en route to being named one of the Top Mid-Major
Assistants by Kenny Kallina Scouting.
4. Prior to his promotion, Passmore spent three seasons as the director of women's basketball operations for the Rams, and was a roundtable
presenter at the WBCA National Convention in 2011 and 2013. He also hired, trained and supervised student managers, video coordinator and
practice players, planned all team meals and travel, and organized team building and community service activities. Passmore was also the
team liaison with Rhode Island's academic services, compliance, marketing, equipment, facilities and business offices.
Passmore received his Bachelor's degree from Providence College in political science in 2007 before earning a Master's in education in 2009,
also from Providence.
Brooke Queenan was named the graduate assistant manager for the Northeastern women's basketball program on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Queenan, a 2006 graduate from Boston College, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Huntington Ave. The West Chester,
Pennsylvania native played at Boston College from 2002-2006. While at Boston College, Queenan helped lead the Eagles to three NCAA
Sweet Sixteen tournament appearances, a 90-38 record overall, and a 2003 BIG EAST conference championship.
Queenan was named a captain for the 2005-06 season. She is a member of the 500 points - 500 rebounds club at BC; her 560 rebounds are
third all-time in program history. During the 2005-06 season Queenan scored 497 points, tying her for 14th all-time in single-season scoring.
Queenan is a prominent name in the Boston College record book, and her hard work paid off when she was drafted 23rd in the 2006 WNBA
draft by the New York Liberty. She would play two seasons - 2006 and 2008 - in the WNBA, as well as overseas from 2006-2014.
Currently, the former Eagle is pursuing her Masters degree in applied economics at Northeastern.
Kashaia Cannon enters her second season as the Northeastern women's basketball director of operations. Cannon is responsible for
coordinating the Huskies travel plans, helping schedule the team's non-conference games, overseeing the program's budget and exepenses,
day-to-day operations, team events, film exchange and events such as senior day and Girl Scout Day. She also assists the coaching staff with
the coordination of all camps, clinics, software support and alumni relations.
The Northeastern graduate ('13) played under coach La-Force during her five years on the NU basketball team. During her senior campaign,
Cannon was named to the All-CAA third team after starting all 30 games and setting a single-season school record in 3-pointers (80), while
finishing top-50 among Division 1 with a 40.8 3-point field goal percentage. The 5-8 guard made an appearance in 121 games during her
tenure on Huntington Avenue and currently sits 16th on NU's all-time scoring leaders list.
