Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. is a pipe that's takes sewage
through the ground where
plants get nutrient from the
water and leave the pollutants
behind.
❖ A solution is to stop plastic
from getting into the ocean in
the first place!
4. OUR SOLUTIONS
❖ One of our solutions is we have
a pipe that goes under ground
into a ocean where the water
goes through a filtered pipe
that goes to water treatment
and a different pipe that
collects the sewage which goes
to a sewage plant.

MY PLAN
I was going to use the same design as the
big group idea except the pipe full of
sewage would go to sewage plant but
then go to the recycling plant in case
there's anything that can be reused. The
materials would be
• two foam tubes
• a coffee filter
• three boxes
• some water.
6. OUR PLAN
❖ Our plan was to have a boat that has
two pumps in the bottom. One
would take in the polluted water
which would go through filters,and
the others would let the clean water
back out. Our materials would be
• a large Toy boat,
• Two foam pipes
• Three boxes
• Some gravel and sand
• some small foam spheres to
represent the chemicals
7. ❖ The pipes would take In the polluted water from the bottom of the
boat and send it to the coagulation chamber
❖ when the water goes through coagulation chamber there would be
chemicals added like alum to get rid of small dirt and other types of
particles.
❖ Then it would go through through a sedimentation tank where the
water is filtered through many different layers of gravel or sand or soil.
❖ Last the water would go through a filtration tank where the water is
disinfected and then send it through a pipe that would then release the
cleaned water back into the ocean
